Booked for a party of 32 people for my daughter’s 18th birthday party. Food was mediocre at best and the young bar staff and waitresses don’t know the meaning of politeness and hospitality. They were so miserable and rude and clearly there just to get their shift done and go home. A smile and a please and thank you wouldn’t go a miss! The steaks were just ok but the pork chops were tough as old boots and garnished with chillies! Not advertised anywhere on the menu as being garnished with chillies! Certainly not nice for some party members that don’t like spicy food. We brought a birthday cake for my daughter that cost £90 so all our family could have a slice of cake after their meal to celebrate her special day only to be told by staff that they would not accommodate us what so ever as they didn’t know where the cake came from so we were not given a knife to slice the cake, or plates or serviettes and they were very rude when questioned. If we knew this was their policy before we arrived then we would have booked somewhere else. In a day and age where the restaurant and pub trade is struggling you would think the Pantyscallog would be more accommodating and more grateful for our custom. After having a word with the manager she did throw down a few paper napkins for us to use but they were given reluctantly and with attitude. I believe that the manager and staff have really let themselves down on this occasion as we will no longer be using the establishment for any future celebrations and we will discourage anyone that is thinking of celebrating any type of occasion here and will be better off elsewhere. If the manager is reading this then I ask you, was it really worth losing hundreds or thousands of pounds worth of business over a fricking cake? Give yourself a tap on...
Read moreWe made a group booking for around 23 people pre ordered our meals for 7:30 our food started arriving at 8:30 with starters not everyone ordered starters all came out different times the starters were still coming out when the mains started coming out we were still eating our starter but asked the waitress to just take it we'll eat the main now considering it had already been cooked not one apology from both waitresses, the gammon was overcooked very hard to cut and burnt bits on it we explained to the waitress but didn't want a fresh one just told her to let her know not once did either one of us have service with a smile or an apology just stinking looks which made us feel very uncomfortable the mains were still coming out at 9:30 some of us were ready to leave while others still hadn't had their food and then was told they ran out of steak that we had already pre ordered half our food was cold the other half was boiling the chips were awful a few of our group had been here before just 2 of them and said the food was amazing which was why we made a group booking for this celebration and the food we had was not what was had previously and not tasty we spoke to the waitress and not once did we have an apology again and as it was very hot a few of us went out the back for some fresh air and heard the chef complaining about us, unfortunately we had awful service and food and regrettably will not be returning i hope this will get sorted and nobody else has the...
Read moreI can honestly say this is by far the best pub I have been in for food. The portions are big. The prices are fantastic but this does not effect the very high quality of the food and taste. The lasagne is amazing. The steak is top quality. The gammon is the best I've had. It is exceptionally clean, Modern classic pub. I could list every item on the menu and not find a fault with it. The hamburger is better then HILLS by far. The staff are great and friendly. I would happily go every night of the week and twice on Sunday for a roast dinner if they did one. If you want an excellent high quality big portion pub grub including T-bone steaks then go here. This is an honest independent review and I have no loyalty nor affiliation with the pub. Its just that good. The pub is cash only which means you have to visit a cash machine first or use the one opposite the pub. But that's no hardship really and cash is king as the saying goes. Its kind of old school for a classic,...
