I booked on this experience fairly last minute as the weather wasn't great but it has been my favourite thing to do.
Sophie was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, she answered all our questions and made it really fun. You are met at the front gate by her and drive to the parking area then walk in to where the llamas are waiting. In our group there was a family of 4, a family of 3 and myself, and we had 5 llamas to walk between us.
Sophie taught us about the llamas and how to walk them and look after them. You can stroke their necks which are really soft and they have beautiful eyes! Children under the age of 7 aren't meant to be there but there was a 7 year old on our trek and he did really well. The llamas have head harnesses and leads and you can guide them fairly easily. My llama was called Boris and he just seemed to want to stop and eat every few steps but he was friendly and so soft. The outside of the centre is beautiful and you trek through the woodland as a group.
Once you return to the centre after about 40 minutes walking you get to feed your llama from your hands and then have a go at llama agility!
I can't recommend this experience enough, something very different from the norm and even if you're alone it's fun.
Wear decent shoes if you're trekking as the path is uneven and steep at various points and it is quite windy up there. There's a shelter where we stood for a while but I didn't see any toilets so best to go before you arrive. The postcode takes you to the entrance to the site which is...
Read moreYou need to read all of this. Normally I put short review but. What a amazing place we'll worth the money Derrick is brilliant really chilled out takes his time going through everything with you so informative takes his time with everyone my wife and son walked with Bert the llama and me with my bad knees walked behind when the group went ahead Derrick got all the groups to wait so I could catch up and did not mind how long I took. When we got back to the paddock and it was photo time again Derrick took his time taking lots of photos for us on our phones (so not like other attractions where you have to buy them after) and letting us take our own photos as well and when it was time to do the llamas jumping I thought it would be Derrick showing us boy was I wrong you get to run along side the llama and have a few goes at it yourself. My son is artistic and has other mental health issues and after he was so chilled for days after and when we go away normally I as him would he go back to the place we have visited he normally says no. But this time he said YES so we will be coming back and very soon I hope this is a must...
Read moreAmazing experience. Our group was led by Lauren. We phoned an hour before as we were expecting to be 10 minutes late (got there 5 minutes late in the end) and they were very friendly and said just get there as fast as we could.
The trek itself was good, only a short walk with some uphill/rock parts. Most people should be able to manage the walk. You are holding onto the llama the whole time so best not to do this if you need a walking stick or other walking aid.
We then got to feed the llamas before doing agility exercises.
Lots of photo opportunities, and plenty of time to bond with the llama. We were very lucky and got Panda, the youngest of the four who was very cute.
Training was simple and easy to remember.
So much fun and would love to do again if we ever got the chance. 100% recommend if visiting...
