Rotherham Superbowl — Attraction in Rotherham

I had dome some googling as was told there was a Wimpy here and fancied a bit of a nostalgia trip. So I packed the family in the car and headed over the border with the promise of bowling and a takeaway lunch. On arrival I had to wait but a mere 16 minutes to be served. This wasn't due to a long queue of happy bowling enthusiasts, but because the manager had gone AWOL. Two adults and three children for £26.75 and I thought I was in for a treat, an bowling extravaganza. It would be a futuristic lane like something you see in the films. It was from the films, but not the good ones. The floor was filthy, the carpet was sticky, the balls had the numbers rubbed from them. The kids all elected to use the metal slide to roll the balls down, now I am currently waiting at the doctor for them to have their Tetanus shot. The slide wasn't needed in the end as the lane was so warped the balls took the path of least resistance and swayed majestically, like a spring river carving through melting ice.

Then on to the magnificent feast that awaited us. I decided, as everyone was getting hungry, I would order while we were playing, so the food would be ready when we finished, and i was assured it would be served in "10 minutes". We finished the game approximately ten minutes later and had the good fortune to sit on a sticky sofa for the next 20 while our order was processed. Food was what I expected, and remembered from Wimpy, so that's fine. But it was ruined by the staff, they were less than helpful and service minded (something I always mistakenly expect from people working in the service industry).

I think I'll hold off on my next trip to Wimpy until I drive to London again, I hear there is one in Amersham. And as for the bowling, Centertainment is cheaper,...

We are regulars here and it has seriously gone down hill. Went at weekend with my young son, booked a while ago online, when arrived told we were downstairs. Went downstairs to find the bar was shut, no music, no disco lights, it was awful! Asked to be moved up stairs at reception I was told no. Explained that each time we want a drink we have to carry all our belongings up and down 3/4 flights of stairs, as the bar isn’t open downstairs . I was told nothing they could do. Asked for a refund, I was told that I wasn’t entitled to one as I had booked online so offered a voucher! Went to the bar upstairs, waited over 25 minutes to get a drink as no staff at bar. No ice for drinks, coke flat. After bowling went on amusement machines to find most broke! Tried to play pool but cues broke and triangle doesn’t fit the the pool balls!!!!

Staff are so rude, especially at reception! Very unhelpful and need customer service training. (Which is constantly said in many reviews!!) And the wimpy, well when you eventually get served as the one staff member cooking wimpy is also serving at the bar at the other end of the building, when you get your food it’s luke warm!

Toilets are disgusting and no way get checked, urine all over the floor!

This place is no cheaper than Hollywood bowl, so I’d save your money and go there. We’ve come for years and it has got worse each time. There was a lot of complaints and angry parents last weekend, especially the ones downstairs who were unhappy that no bar was open or even music was playing! This place is going to end up with no customers if it doesn’t start...

So today 11/8/23 myself husband daughter and boyfriend went for a quiet game of bowling, the bar was unattended nearly half of the time we was there. We were having to find staff to serve us which not only ourselves but other people were having to wait a long period of time. Someone else decided to take it upon themselves to serve themselves a drink. we was then met with a very young rude very disrespectful new member of staff who was very rude to my husband and myself ,basically accusing us for stealing drinks when it wasn’t us to which you can imagine,I wasn’t very happy with. We can’t fault the manager one bit who was checking the CCTV footage to prove our innocence clearly we was cleared of all accusations we then decided not to eat at the venue and leave. As we was leaving, I myself told the young member of staff how rude she was to be met with another very rude disrespectful member who was telling us to get out,NEVER have we ever been so disrespected and spoken to like we have tonight I will be putting an official complaint in to the head office dept tomorrow as I think the members of staff need to learn manners and respect on dealing with paying customers the behaviour was absolutely unacceptable...
