Barnhill Rock Garden is a public park extending to more than two hectares It is situated on part of a former nine-hole golf course which was laid out when the Dundee to Aberdeen railway line was built; The Garden was started in 1955 by clearing an area of volcanic rock, which had at one time been the old shore line. Over the years it was extended eastwards over areas which had been sand dunes. In the 1980s, two new water features were added, creating a tranquil environment and a haven for wildlife. It is a peaceful haven with lots of seats to take in the views and enjoy the greenery . Public toilets nearby

Nice walk with the dog and great spots for a picnic. Some of the paths had broken glass scattered around though, so be careful and keep an eye out for your dogs feet. Most of the area is very well kept. The Rock Garden is also right by the water/beach, with a great view over to Tayport and Tensmuir Forest.

Well maintained with picnic tables (x2) and benches spread through area. Lovely peaceful place to stop off at. There are toilet facilities. Can't see the beach at other side of road due to planting. When sitting in you are looking into the gardens. Perfect.

Great rock garden to wonder around. Wonderful views across to fife, many of the plants had passed as coming into Autumn, but the garden is so lovely The new sea front from at Broughty Ferry is fabulous. Great walks, cycling. We headed to the golf hotel at Carnoustie, lovely cycle. So...
