Literally at the side of the road so worth parking up and having a wander. Not open when we visited but there is limited opening at certain times of the year. What is left is quite impressive. An attractive 15th century three storey tower joined to some surviving courtyard wall with a gate and then a corner tower. James VI of Scotland was a regular visitor. There is a helpful information board.

Small little castle ruins, there is access to the towers and can go up a flight of stairs. One has had some restoration work with some windows and a roof. Varied opening times so I'd check the heritage scotland website before hand. Free entry no need to book. No parking, we drove right past, had to drive for a bit to turn around. Found a quiet street next to houses close by.

While this castle is very, very small it is still a nice experience. The views of the Loch are quite nice from here and it is a short but lovely walk from Milnathort. It is a great place for kids to run and play. During the season you can pop across the road to pick up the key to get inside. It is well cared for and an interesting part of Scottish history.

Interesting building. We visited on a weekend out of season so there was no access into the building but no restrictions on entering the grounds or wandering around the structure. There are information placards on the grounds that are of interest and spark further interest for later study.

If visiting there is no immediate car parking facilities, we parked further down the main road and walked back to the attraction. Worth a visit again...

Look's to have a small car park but it's overgrown and is not useable? (noted by the other gate in the fence into castle grounds) The castle was owned by the Balfour family perhaps related to Jamie Balfour featured in the film Kidnapped? Much of the stone is missing likely used by local builder's to build private dwelling's. What is left suggests a most impressive castle that was virtually raised to the ground after the Jacobite...
