Craigend Castle — Attraction in Scotland

The Craigend Castle ruins are really impressive and atmospheric, even though you can’t go inside. It’s great that the site is left in its natural state to provide a safe habitat for wildlife like bats and birds — a thoughtful and respectful way to preserve history and nature together.

Good if you want a walk, not if you want to explore a castle. Medium sized castle in a state of disrepair, there is no access to any part of it. There is an information board regarding the protection of a few animal species inside the grounds, protected by a tall fence that surrounds it. This is a beautiful Place to walk around whether you are a walking enthusiast or if you have dogs. There are plenty of information boards about the interesting history of the ruins that are there, whilst you can't go into the old zoo there are some ruins further along you can walk into and around.
