We looked for a place for a nice walk with our dog. Some place nice, green and quiet. Found this park here online and thought it looked promising. Came by car. Only a 40 minute drive from our BnB. Plenty of parking at the visitors centre at the main entrance. Free of charge. And no charge to enter the park as well. There are some shops, a coffee shop, a garden center, arts & crafts, toilets, a playground. Lots to do. There are several paths leading you through the big grounds of this park. Some very easy and flat. Some more narrow and a bit wet after rainy days. Bring some good shoes to be sure. We loved walking around the park with our English Bulldog. Lots of other furry friends to meet here. And a lot less visitors than one might expect. A first highlight is the Craigend Castle. Or more like what remains of it. Now nature is taking it back and it's fenced off. Some part of me would love to see it restored. Bought I also understand that they like to keep it this way. Let nature take it back for a living place for various animals. Then Mugdock Loch is another highlight. Walk around this beautiful quiet little Loch. Plenty of photo ops and benches for a picnic. The Loch is also the place where you will find the Mugdock Castle. Some really nice remains. Very fun to explore. With tables to make a picnic. A really nice little castle. We very much enjoyed our day here. Follow the map and the paths. Or just start walking and let yourself get lost a little. Surprisingly it's free...something that wouldn't be possible in my country. Not an impressive park of this size with so much to see. A lovely place.

Lovely place to take the family! Visited for the 1st time today and our young kids loved it. From discovering carved animal statues, spotting the frogs in the pond, nature trails, walking through the castle, having lunch inside the castle, playing in the playpark, building dens, being ninja warriors and generally exploring the natural beautiful scenery! So much more stuff there that we didn't get to see like the Victorian walled garden, the gift shop and plenty of other things I'm sure we don't even know about. Toilets on-site and plenty of free parking. Shops accepts debit cards so don't worry if you've forgotten cash either. Definitely recommend a trip, think they do bike hires too for cycling around the many path options available. We'll be back another day for sure!

My only disappointment is that we didn't have enough time to explore the whole park! To do so would probably require an entire weekend. So much to do in one country park and absolutely stunning surroundings. So many nature trails and old castles & ruins you could easily & gladly get lost! Book the BBQs ahead to avoid disappointment (using website or visitor centre) Oh and don't swim in the lochs. Beautiful magical place, you can really feel the history here. We didn't even get to see half of it and so we intend to go back and see the rest! Would definitely recommend for a day out. Enjoy

Very nice walk. For such a small park there is so much to see. There is a lake, a castle you can actually visit and climb to the top (mind the opening times though), a bog and easy footpaths. The park is in autumn lovely. The walks can be muddy after a rain. So don't forget to bring your wellies. The castle is only rarely open. Parking can be a challenge at times. There is also a Visitor Centre where you can eat a snack and shop and find a toilet. There are also parking places. A lot of people are walking their dogs.

Great big country park.. Steaped in history.. From the 18th century castle to the 19th century manour house.. Great country walks along well maintained gravel paths.. Kids can go exploring and the adults can grab a bite or a Coffe at the northern car park cafe.. Also there was an AABattary gun emplacements..just leaving the brick built store and armoury buildings.. Set up during WWll. With a clear view across the whole of Glasgow... With the protection of the Campsie Glen Hills as a backdrop..
