My daughter and hubby and I went on the wee ferry with the friendly Ferryman and his beautiful Dog .Trip about 20mins to Cromarty .It had started to rain very heavy so we went to the Cromarty Courthouse museum .The Spanish lady the attendant gave us some info sheets .No charge all donations welcome .We went a wee wander lots of Exhibits regarding Cromarty. We then made our way up to the Courthouse. There was a courthouse scene and a trial from 1700s a drunken brawl in an inn .The scene was set out with the legal eagles .The waxwork figures ( just like Tussaud’s ) it was very interesting and entertaining.. The lad mckenzie on trial .We went downstairs to the Jail ,.The courtyard the prisoners had their daily exercise .We all enjoyed the visit .Happy to pop in a donation .So don’t miss this if your on Cromarty .A small gift shop too . Still raining went we went out but This is Scotland .

Celebrating 250 years , I absolutely glad we visited here. They are open and it's free. They have transcripts available for real example court scenario cases and its out loud in a courtroom set up. And lots of info around too. Great to go into this building and learn more about the areas history . You can even go through archives too.

A great place to learn the history of Cromerty, more than just fishing and oil! Step back in time to hear a court session on a drunken brawl in the 1700's. Very friendly staff. Local photos downstairs. Free, but consider donating.

Wandered in from the street, having not being aware of this museum's existence. So pleased we did; it's an excellent place to visit. We were greeted by an enthusiastic member of staff who made us feel very welcome. The interpretation is well presented and user friendly, being the correct mix of audio tableau, interesting info boards and artefacts. It's free to go in, being run by the local community but donations are welcomed and we...

A great little spot to absorb the history of the place, consider how the fortunes of Cromarty ebbed and flowed as the centuries passed. Interesting to think about how the positions of Inverness and Cromarty could have been reversed if, well, we’ll never know what tipped the balance. Very enthusiastic staff worker man, very welcoming and...
