Friendliest Harbour I've ever been in. I was a boatmaster to trade and sailed tugs from Northern Norway to Bergen and exferries from Norway to Cameroon etc. The friendliest people I'd met till now we're in Cameroon. The most unfriendly were in Howth Harbour in Ireland with a very ignorant Harbour master. The whole of the staff here are so friendly with no pressure on how long you wish to stay and help in anyway they can. Refueling here is easy the tanker can come over the harbour bridge right to your boat. I really like it here and might just stay a bit longer for a bit of fishing. If yer cruising the east coast I can highly recommended a visit to Cromarty. Safe Harbour with stunning views and good shops, pub and amenities. Five out of five stars, with a sixth for the welcome.

We called in at Cromarty as we drove around the Black Isle and spent some time looking around Cromarty and the harbour. Cromarty is a delightful place and well worth visiting. The harbour is part of that experience. While we were there, we saw a whale watching boat go out, so it may be worth looking at that. We parked a few minutes away from the harbour and enjoyed walking through to town getting there.

Cromarty Harbour is a traditional coastal harbour. I have been here plenty times it well worth parking in Cromarty and just walk to explore. The harbour is a working harbour and there are usually a few vessels in dock. You can walk out the end the surfaces are uneven so mind your footing. Cromarty is a friendly place and people will chat with you. Highly recommended.

Very scenic and calm location.

The burgh is noted as a base for viewing the local offshore sea life. These include one of the most northerly groups of bottlenose dolphins. Cromarty, along with Chanonry Point just round the coast, is one of the best places in Europe to see these animals close to the shore.

The predominant local stone is the Old Red Sandstone about which Hugh Miller wrote. Many fossils can also be found in the rocks...
