The David Livingstone Birthplace has captured my heart with its enchanting setting by the river and easy access to scenic woods. It's a true gem that offers an incredible walking experience and showcases stunning gardens that are an absolute delight to explore.

But let me tell you, the real showstopper for me is the charming café. Not only is it nestled in a picturesque spot, but it also boasts a kid-friendly menu that's a big hit with my children. Every visit is a guaranteed joy for them, and I can't help but appreciate the welcoming staff and the fantastic food they serve up.

One thing I truly admire is their commitment to constantly improving the garden and playground areas. It's a testament to their dedication to creating a space that's not just static, but evolving and exciting. And let's not forget the seasonal events they organize, especially for the little ones during summer, Easter, and more. The David Livingstone Birthplace transforms into a hub of activity, catering to various interests and gatherings throughout the year.

While I haven't had the chance to explore the museum just yet – it was temporarily closed for refurbishing – I'm eagerly awaiting its reopening. With the overall experience being this exceptional, I have no doubt that the museum will be just as remarkable.

In a nutshell, the David Livingstone Birthplace comes with my wholehearted recommendation. It's a place where nature, history, and hospitality come together to create an unforgettable experience. Five...

A wonderful museum which has changed (for the better I might add) in the years since I last visited. A fascinating history lesson of a remarkable man for everyone, aided by knowledgeable staff throughout the museum. Give yourself plenty of time if you want to take it all in - it's got a lot of information plaques read and videos to watch.

On the outside there are some beautiful walks which can take you far from the Centre or shorter if you want. The café is also worth visiting even if only to have a refreshing drink.

All in all, a place not to miss if you happen to be in that part of the world. It's easy to find and there is plenty car parking space. Thoroughly recommend.

Point to note: the site is no longer part of the National Trust, so card holders of that organisation will not be eligible for free entry. The entry fee, however, is...

A few comments about David Livingstone Birthplace, the set up at the entrance and grounds are amazing, the statue is super although strangely ripped for a lion! The lady that served us was so nice and friendly and informative about the model by the reception and was 10/10 (give that lady a big thanks), Museum itself was good, definitely put a different slant on the 'He was a missionary' which I know the schools tout, personally the vibe I got was, he didn't want to be a missionary and wasn't a very good doctor, he 'used' both in order to go see the world and explore Africa and..... Fair play to him! There is a nice connection between him and Southern East Africa and the region, the display is nice, staff were nice.

Edited-- I appreciate your response and not being, maybe a strange abbreviation within iZettle. Anyway it was a...

We had some cake and coffee in the cafe, the coffee was great, but small cups for a latte. Didn’t visit the museum but we went on an adventurous walk along the Clyde… not bad at all, even the dumped cars were an interesting sight due to their extreme rusty state!! Lots of ancient archeological finds such as empty ‘Buckfast’ bottles! Lol it wasn’t too bad on the litter front to be fair, I’ve seen worse. The old building near the dismantled railway was also very colourful, the graffiti was competing with the spring blossoms such a enchanting juxtaposition 😆 - I would visit again, especially as we found the Blantyre Priory ‘Carvings’ - next time I’ll probably visit the museum too. The nearby pub was a welcome break after our ravine climbing expedition!

Fun and educational. It's all ready to visit as the museum and house are currently now open for visiting. There has been a lot of investment in the place. It has disabled access to the museum now. As well as accessible parking. It has also had a completely new play park added to the grounds. As well as loads of new seating areas added all over the park, also areas with seating covered, that way you're able to nip out the rain showers. Also open is a new cafe for refreshments and the toilets are located here too. Entry to the park and parking , remains free of charge. The only cost for entry is into the museum, if you fancy it. Entry for adults is priced at £7.50.
