A large hotel in it's own grounds just outside Melrose. A bit tired looking , worn carpets and damaged paintwork. Room clean and tidy but radiator not working and a small oil filled one in use. Bathroom tiny and cramped and no shower gel or shampoo in room although this was supplied on request. Food ok but not generous and drink expensive - wine about £20 a bottle and a pint of Guinness £4.40. We were there in January on coach trip and costs were obviously kept...
   Read moreWe visited Kelso for a couple of days walking. Lovely town, very friendly, and all amenities. Recommend the Queen's Head for food and good beer. Lovely circular walk to Roxburgh, with a lots of history on the way. Abbotsford House was in easy driving distance, and well worth a visit. The gardens at Floors Castle I am sure, will be lovely in the summer, but still bare when we visited in March. Great time, would definitely go back...

Once visited the Abbey Kelso is a nice little Market town that is definitely worth looking round with plenty of eating establishments
