A large hotel in it's own grounds just outside Melrose. A bit tired looking , worn carpets and damaged paintwork. Room clean and tidy but radiator not working and a small oil filled one in use. Bathroom tiny and cramped and no shower gel or shampoo in room although this was supplied on request. Food ok but not generous and drink expensive - wine about £20 a bottle and a pint of Guinness £4.40. We were there in January on coach trip and costs were obviously kept...

We visited Kelso for a couple of days walking. Lovely town, very friendly, and all amenities. Recommend the Queen's Head for food and good beer. Lovely circular walk to Roxburgh, with a lots of history on the way. Abbotsford House was in easy driving distance, and well worth a visit. The gardens at Floors Castle I am sure, will be lovely in the summer, but still bare when we visited in March. Great time, would definitely go back...

Kelso Abbey has as you would expect a lot of interesting History, sadly it is a ruin but there is still a lot there to give you the idea of its extent when it was in its Hey Day

Once visited the Abbey Kelso is a nice little Market town that is definitely worth looking round with plenty of eating establishments

Kelso is within distance of a lot of other Historic ares that would also be worth visiting on...

Lovely ruined abbey, walking distance from the town centre and its amenities. As other reviewers have stated the abbey has been fenced off for a long time with few signs of any refurbishment or repair work. However it is still an impressive monument and worth visiting. There are information boards about its history which are worth a read. The abbey is also the starting point for the river walk which was lovely.

I would say such a lovely day but it was raining quite heavily, but it seem to stop as we got closer and at Kelso, so when we got out to explore the places & the abbey it was dry. Everyone was so very friendly, that's the one thing I really like about anyway in Scotland. Lovely place to visit.

If you plan to visit Scotland then you better stay at home. Due to the pendamic the neglected the historical monuments and sites. As a matter of fact many of them are closed or in a really bad shape! Please go somewhere else!
