Very surreal experience. The chicken and waffles sounded good, and when told all the options that come with it, it seemed good value. It didn't however mention on the menu it was all on top of each other. So it was chicken and waffle topped with hollandaise, bluecheese Slaw, bacon a fried egg, jalapeños. It all curdled into a sickly soggy plate. I'd recommend serving them on the side and letting the customer choose what they want, as the combination of all together was awful. The chocolate dessert after was also hard to get your head around, chocolate Fondant, it was just a dry sponge so clearly overcooked I assume with large chunks of honeycomb( very large hard to bite chunks) then a chocolate ganache type side ( which was inedibly salty.) When we complained the chef had told the waitress to reply "its miso chocolate. Its supposed to be salty" 1. If you are going to add miso atleast write it on the menu 2. It tasted awful so I'd recomend trying it before serving it, yes miso Is salty but I'd be embarrassed to have served that. Something clearly went wring. The crumble was burnt on top but I didn't mention it as the chef was clearly in one of those moods so would probably reply the burnt topping was a charcoal feature. Lovely restaurant and great staff but the chef and kitchen need to try harder. Get the basics right before you make salmon ice cream, miso chocolate sauce and finally a hollandaise/bluecheese/egg jalapeño waffle. Having the chef in charge that evening wasn't a great look as their attitude was awful. Mistakes get made so I don't think the food is awful normally i assume. The dishes described were truly horrible. So atleast put your hands up and say its a mistake. Not double down and say its supposed to be like that. I mean cmon, imagine eating hollandaise, blue cheese, maple, jalapeños bacon and egg together with chicken and waffles. Surely someone should say you've gone too far

Very nice pub and dining rooms. Don't be put off by the slightly twee name. Beer is good - a choice of half a dozen or more real ales. The NZ hop IPA hit the spot, kept well and a good tasty choice. The wine is reasonable value. Food choices very good - nothing wild and wacky but something for everyone be it steak and ale pie, king prawn curry, fish and chips, burger, something popped on top of pasta and a few specials. Then nice ice cream from their shop opposite, raspberry sorbet a delight as was the chocolate ice cream. Vegans will find something but not a brilliant choice for them. Very friendly and relaxed place. Great staff who attended to us very well, spot on food at prices which are not extravagant for what you get (no starters needed unless you fancy one), and a nice clean and tidy venue. Nothing to dislike here, everything pretty perfect.

Went for lunch with the wife service was good at first got me and my wife a seat straight away , oddly quite for a Sunday , ordered drinks first I got the stout what was watered down and the wife got larger what was alright nice and refreshing, starters where plain what we didn’t mind but the pots where chipped, I got my fish and chips in some odd metal tray chips where nice but the fish 🤮 it was soggy and mushy and the peas where gray , the wife ordered the beef she said the beef was nice but all the vegetables tasted like they had garlic salt added and got sickly, mentioned this to the waitress she said she would tell the chef, nothing was done and then waited almost 20 minutes for the bill , will not be visiting again better restaurant close by , I will add photo of proof of purchase

We drove 12 miles to go to Cobbles based on good reviews. We had taken my Mum away for a holiday and took her to cobbles for her 94th birthday. What a disappointment. My husbands chicken with waffles looked like a burnt offering when it arrived, he ate it without complaining as didn't want to upset my Mum given she was paying for it. If it had been sent back he’d have waited another 20 minutes for another one to be cooked and by then we would have finished it so he just ate it. He did mention to me after he’d finished it that the chef should never have sent it out, my Mums quite deaf so didn’t hear the conversation. I did complain to the waitress who said she could do nothing about it as he’d ate it, she also mentioned some other gentlemen had ordered it and hadn’t complained, I saw his plate of food as they were close to us and his looked fine. Nothing taken off the bill, appalling. Also wouldnt rate the fish, very greasy and batter didn’t have a great taste. All in all very poor, not the best ending to a lovely holiday, I’m not a complainer but this...
