Hilton gravel pit nature reserve... the got the 'pit' part right. I've never endured jungle like scenes in the UK. If the council have been forwarding a pot of money for the upkeep of this reserve, it's definitely been swindled. swarms of bugs - the likes you haven't seen since starship troopers were upon us in no time and the paths overgrown with carnivorous plants, chomping at the bit to decompose a felled fellow. no signage or maps along the way so you simply get lost and confused, don't go here... unless you're a frog lover, plenty of them of which I can't complain....

The lake looked lovely. We had dogs with us, so we were unable to walk all the way round as dogs are not allowed in certain areas. I completely support this as I understand they can disturb wildlife.
