I don't really recommend this place. Although the beach itself is not to bad but the roads to get there are just a nightmare - twisty and narrow with hundreds of cars parked along all the way to the beach. Closer you want to get the less space you can find. At the bottom there is a small car park, though but completely staffed with cars at all times and paid even on Sundays and bank holidays. One restaurant only near the car park is very expensive and you need to install their phone app beforehand if you want to order something. I was surprised they don't do simple fish and chips. I believe food may be tasty but I resign on that occasion. The very limited space at this beach and overcrowded although it was still before the season were things that really put me off from this place. There is a nice long walk via main street to the town centre where you can enjoy some really nice views of the other side beaches and the pier of Salcombe, but that's about it. Would not go again to this side and South beach isn't any better for the mentioned reasons unfortunately. Very poorly arranged space as for the touristic place. I don't really see many pros about this location. Only the view and cliffs perhaps. But you can find...
Read moreReally nice beach with convenient parking. Really nice views and a nice place to think and recollect thoughts. I found it to be very peaceful and nice. Looking at the houses on the cliffs are amazing. As i am from the city. Parking was only £1.10 per Hour. There is a seafood restaurant right next to the beach which we unfortunately couldnt try. But really nice beach overall. Sandy and big rocks perfect for crabing and for kids to play on. Why i give this beach a four is there was a lot of dogs, i dont have a problem with dogs as i love dogs but with small children around they got scared esp while they came up when we was eating. Good place to brings dogs for walks and swims. Was a nice find driving around the area. We went on a dismall day but would be really nice...
Read moreFabulous natural beach that nestles in a sheltered cove, with plenty of beautiful views of the wooded cliffs and the Salcombe Estuary. Dogs are welcome all year round.
A small car park sits right next to the beach taking about 80 cars. Also the Winking Prawn restaurant and cafe provides nice food. Public toilets are nearby.
The sandy beach is quite flat and can be fully enjoyed at low tide, with plenty of space to explore.
Fort Charles is visible from the shoreline at low tide.
Highly recommend the walk along Cliff Road into Salcombe with great views, or alternatively walk to South Sands (1mile) and enjoy experiencing a trip into Salcombe on the passenger ferry (includes boarding using the...
