Usually I have lunch at South Sands Hotel or the Harbour Beach Club, but I decided to go to Bo’s, nestled in between both, for a change. What a pleasant surprise! I had a lovely salad, for half the price of anything at either of the hotels and enjoyed arguably the best view on the whole beach, from the slipway that gently slopes straight into the sea (Bo’s is an old lifeboat station). It’s the perfect lunchtime spot, but they also serve into the evening also when they start serving pizza from 5pm on the weekends. Parking is limited at South Sands, if you’re not visiting the hotels, so probably best to catch the South Sands Ferry from Salcombe Town, which is also great fun in itself. It’s rare to stumble upon a place with such effortless charm. From the moment we arrived, the warmth of the welcome set the tone for a perfect evening.
The food? Outstanding. The atmosphere? Equally so. The hosts? The friends you wish you had.
Each aspect enhances the other beautifully, creating a vibe that’s just perfect. The pizzas are just how they should be, certainly the best I’ve had in a long while, and the prime spot in South Sands just adds to the magic.
Yes, you’ll need to pre-order by around 3pm to secure your slot – but honestly, if you're not willing to put in the effort, you don't deserve to eat here. Places this good are worthy of planning.
