We've all been at a loss for what to do this past year as we try to find new things to try and new places to walk. One member of the community has decided to combine these staples of lockdown life. We now have The Great Defecation Bench of Hertfordshire stationed in The Wick. As you can see by the sign; this only happens sometimes and it is not guaranteed, but possible. On sunny days you can see families in a scene reminiscent of Easter Egg hunts that we saw in pre covid times. Perhaps you would like to get a selfie with the sign to show your friends and family or perhaps you want to try and snap a photograph of this elusive event in action, as so far the only snaps taken have been comparable to those of Big Foot and UFOs. As vandalism is a rising problem in recent years please note that CCTV has been placed to dissuade vandals from making The Bench a target in their anti-social behaviour. If you are walking in the area then your list of excuses not to see this local oddity really is pretty short. The Wick is a clean and friendly environment so we would appreciate if you would be mindful to throw away any dog muck and litter. Thank you, enjoy The Wick and watch where you sit!

Beautiful wild and quiet lovely to walk round the wood with its pond or the field both 10 to 15 minutes to cover simple but good children's play area also No childrens football played on field anymore due to neighbouring properties objecting to noise in the past shame as it would add character back to the wick, footpath in woods is natural so can get muddy, although same neighbouring buzz kills want a paved path. Enjoy while you still call this beautiful space

Space for nature in an urban setting. A chance for peace or activity, relaxation or exercise; where all ages can enjoy the delights of ancient woodland.
