It was lovely to go back to Manor House wildlife park, whilst they've changed the car park layout some of the existing parking bay lines still exist which seemed to cause a little confusion. When we visited 4 of the disabled parking spots were blocked either by other people parking at an angle meaning that if we parked in the bay we would have been blocking them in, and another that was unaccessible due to the placement of the pole and the tightness of the space.
The animals were all really well cared for and the keepers were really knowledgeable about the animals they cared for which was great to hear!
As when you go with young children, having ways to occupy them when they go round is a must. There was a well placed large bouncy castle by the front of the cafe with lots of picnic tables too and a large sand play area round by the lemur enclosure. Whilst I felt like it could have done with some more interactive toys to move the sand it was well loved by my niece regardless!
Next on the adventure was the indoor play domes. Be warned that the domes can get quite hot but they are a great indoor play area so well done for these as they were a huge hit with my niece -- the central dome is ideal for very young children (under 2)with a soft play area, the dome on the left when you go in houses more bouncy castles (which are always well received) and lastly the dome on the right house a 4 level jungle gym, with trampolines, ball pits and if you're brave enough to climb to the top a very tall curly slide. The only downside with the tall jungle gym is that the higher you went, the hotter it got and the fans didn't seem to be working properly so be sure to come armed with chilled drinks or pop across to the cafe so your kids can have a quick refresh before running back in.
I look forward to visiting again and hopefully the outdoor playground will be finished then too as I'm sure it will be popular - it's worth getting an annual ticket just to utilise the play facilities with the added bonus of seeing all the animals they have at Manor House...
Read moreWould have been a lovely day out but we were only there an hour when my 5 year old daughter managed to electrocute herself on a fence with no signs. We then spent the rest of the day in a+e. Please be careful of the fences as they may not be signed. We were told there was no first aider to attend to her and the staff told us she'll be fine. Unsatisfied I phoned 111. They said to take her to a+e immediately as it was 4000v. She had minor burns on her arms too. The staff were very friendly and offered as a free animal experience and gave her a toy unicorn as it was also her birthday. We couldn't get a refund and when I put a complaint in they said that there was 2 first aiders there!!! If there was I never saw one. We took the staff to the area it happened and they agreed to put a sign up. I just hope they do so this doesn't happen again. I would go back though. I may be a bit nervous and looking out for constant danger and so would my daughter. I'd like to check the signs are now there.
It's lovely that you can go into some of the enclosures and feed the animals. I haven't tried the animal experience yet so cannot tell you what it's like. Cafe is very small but it was quite quiet when we went. We had to sit here to calm my daughter down after the accident. Hopefully we will revisit in the summer and try again. Just hope it hasn't traumatised my daughter too much. You can't see the electric wire in the photos as it's just the other side of the fence (wallaby enclosure). She'd put her hands through the fence to lean on it to look at the camels in the enclosure next to it and touched the wire the other side. That's how close it is. You can touch it. I wouldn't have let her if I knew it was electrified. You can see that there is no warning sign. I can't upload the video I took which shows it better. This is just to show that people need to be careful. Not all electric fences are visibly signed. If you do visit I hope you enjoy as this would have been a wonderful experience....
Read moreThe best day ever for all of us! 6 of us from 5 years old to 65. All raving about it and happily recounting it. The wallaby walk through was our absolute favourite as you get to feed them and they had babies in their pouches! Adorable ❤️ The enclosures we found were spacious and the animals happy. We got to see all the animals, not one was hiding, how lucky. The zoo keepers were knowledgeable and we enjoyed listening to the tiger talk. One of the rhinos was being cheeky and a zookeeper cleaning out the gated part went over and spoke and stroked to him/her. It was lovely interaction. There are lots of benches placed so plenty of places for a rest. The selection of play areas is good. We didn't find the site overly busy and everyone using it was polite. They have a couple small outside play areas, a hay bale maze inside and a soft play inside a dome which gets hot on a warmer day, we had no issues today. The kids of our group had a great time on all of these areas (ages 5, 7, 13) The food selection was okay. The pizza smelt amazing but we had fries and goujons which were delicious and hot. Also a selection of ice cream and coffee as you'd expect, no complaints from us. The gift shop was mostly teddies and my kids are on a Teddy ban so a bit disappointed, but if you don't already own 300 teddies you should be able to find a cute one. They weren't disappointed for long by the way, we moved on to the meerkats, lemurs, rabbits and goats continuing our brilliant day as you can walk with the lemurs, rabbits and goats/sheep. They are all so friendly and one goat in particular wanted Continuous fuss on the head. Just kept nudging his head back into your hand. The car park is a decent size and there's a bit of overflow parking. You do have to cross a small road but there's lots of warning signs which is great. Hard to miss! Over all, 5 stars from us,...
