Wonderful place but what really spoils it on arrival, is all the to dominate Red and white Signs and more info. Seriously clearly to many 'private land and or no overnight camping' signs. I'm wondering if they are actually legal? Especially as I was asked this morning by a couple on holiday, can they walk down past the 'Private property' positioned stone boulders. Putting people off walks to Boat Cove and Portheris. I have been asked increasingly by individuals and families on holiday. Are they allowed, through the series of signs.To walk down the coastal paths, I thought that the UK coastal path that we celebrate, is our right of way as British citizens...One or two signs, for passing places would be okay, helpful, ☆if that was the intention...But repeat signs are all over the car park, on the approach and their seem to more each year. The lower car park has been used since I can remember...This amount of signs, is the truly, only ugly aspect of this area. ...And as a local living here. I am ashamed of the unwelcoming eye sores and the unnecessary amount of signs, which keep increasing. Whom ever, has deemed themselves responsible, I think they may as well go the whole way, and include advertising, billboards etc....Luckily being an area of outstanding natural beauty, views in all directions, stunning landscapes of cliffs and the sea, ever changing with the light and time of day.. Help take my mind off, the clear deterrent to freedom to walk and discover the cove and beach...Unfortunately the self appointed, sign warden. Hasn't as yet, been approached by...
Read morePicturesque Hidden gem on the coastal path, a small working fishing cove adjacent to Portherras beach where boats are launched and recovered by winch on steep slipway. Closest public vehicle parking is a small car park just down from Pendeen Watch lighthouse reached on an unmade road just past the lighthouse. There is a resident seal colony at Portherras beach and you can get a great elevated view of the seals and other marine life from the area near the Pendeen Fishermans Mission building...
Read moreIt is a beautiful secluded cove that at low tide has a beautiful small beach. Thee sea unless really calm isn't suitable for swimming as it is rocky whweryoi would enter. No amenities, eg shop toilets cafe etc. You need to bring everything with you. You have to walk a distance, the track is uneven and steep so good shoes are required and a good level of fitness and mobility to get down, and really required when walking back up! It can get busy on weekends...
