Unfortunately we didn’t have the experience we were hoping for. ( Booked for around 5pm on 28.7.25). We were really looking forward to the experience as we all usually love anything ‘thrill seeking’. The initial ‘booking in’ staff were friendly and professional; however after this point our experience went downhill !
On arrival to zip wire tower we were given the equipment and then advised to walk up to the top of the zip wire tower to meet the members of staff who would be ‘facilitating’ the experience. At the top of the tower we were met by 2 members of staff. My partner and I decided to go first out of our group and we were hooked on etc by staff members into the horizontal flight position. There was then a delay of approximately 15 minutes. We later found out from this was due to a ? Puk change / repair/ a fairly common issue / something that needs to be done regularly and would have normally taken only a few minutes, however if was newer member of staff doing the change/ repair.
Unfortunately during this delay the staff members that were present did not explain this despite us being suspended in an extremely uncomfortable position for a long time. I raised 2-3 times that I was very uncomfortable in the position I was in due to pressure on my collarbones/ shoulder / lower back but was initially told that this would be relieved once we were released / in flight. Finally after staff were eventually told there would be a further delay they offered to relieve us and stand us up again.
During the delay the 2 staff members ( 1 female/ 1 male) were talking and ‘bantering’ between themselves ( making very inappropriate ‘jokes’ and very much informing us of their lack of knowledge and experience). In most circumstances we would let this go ‘over our heads’ but given the delay and anxiety that this led to we wanted to highlight this also. A few comments that stuck in our mind was that they said they had only worked there for 2 days ( very inexperienced considering they were responsible for making sure we were safe). Whilst my partner and I were uncomfortably suspended they also laughed and joked that “atleast it was a good view” and that they have “never known anyone to have scraped a dead body off the floor yet”. We would normally make light of this but the whole delay/ clear of experience and knowledge did make us extremely anxious ( I did voice this at the time as I explained I do not normally get anxious).
We were finally resuspended and sent down the zip wire; overall it was enjoyable but very short and not a very comfortable ride particularly as my collarbone / shoulders and lower back were really aching by this point! ( bear in my mind I’m in my 30s and a healthy weight etc). My partner found the experience extremely uncomfortable due to severe lower back pain following the prior delay so did not enjoy the experience. My father in law did also say he found the experience to be very uncomfortable as the position he was placed in made it extremely difficult to look forward / move his neck and therefore he was only able to look down during the ride and not ahead!
My partner did report our experience on the day and we spoke to the manager in charge who seemed very good / logged the complaint and she was extremely apologetic. It seemed like our points were going to be taken seriously which we were pleased with as we don’t want this happening to anyone else. She did say we would have contact from the head office but we are yet to receive any contact as of yet.
Overall we think there needs to be a massive improvement in communication between staff members and customers. Further training and procedures around delays/ repairs/ communication skills/ appropriateness of skill mix.
On a positive note whilst we were on the zip wire experience my mother in law took my younger daughter on the rock climbing and she had a great time and was guided by a lovely ( male ) member of staff ? called ‘Lambarti’ who instilled confidence in my daughter and he was so lovely so we wanted to also...
Read moreIt was such a great experience! I started with Freefall, which was really incredible. You get winched up in the air, can decide the height that you want to be dropped from and then: release! First you kind of float in the air, then you feel the air rushing by at an amazing rate and then you are stopped amazingly soft (if you think about the height, that you just fell from). Sam was an amazing instructor, stayed to make Freefall possible for me (although his shift was long over) and even made sure that my son could get the pictures right! Definitely a one of a kind experience with a grin from ear to ear! :-) After that I continued with Skywire, which was a very nice "flight" over Eden Project. Not a big adrenaline rush, but a really great view and good speed, all that for long 45 seconds! Since there is nothing beneath you, the sensation of "flying" is excellent. Then my son (14) and I jumped into the Big Air airbag. Since he loves great heights just like I do, it was great fun for us. He is under 18, so he got to jump off the first platform twice and three times off the second platform (about 8m). I jumped off the first and second platform twice and then had a final jump off the highest platform. Gravity followed, a kind of big swing where you get winched up about 10m. When you are released, gravity really kicks in and pulls you down, all while beeing firmly secured to the "swing". Great fun and endorphine rush, recommended for the whole family! My final activity was The Drop, where you get up on the highest level of the tower and then have to step into nothing. Kind of nerve-wrecking before you take this step, as soon as you are in the air, the brake kicks in pretty quick, so you know you won't crash into the ground. ;-) All in all a great day with lots of adrenaline and endorphines, super friendly and helpful instructors, definitely worth the money. If you are near the Eden Project, you should...
Read moreRecently visited here when I was on holiday and thoroughly enjoyed my birthday surprise. I was treated to a zip wire experience with all the gear on going down head first and then another go in reverse with no helmet or goggles. A really exillerating treat but was disappointed with how slow the procedure was. Once you are tackled up, you get driven up the hill in a little minibus to the point of descent and you climb the stairs to the gantry to wait your turn. When you get to the top, there are 2 lines to go down but on the weekend I was there, only one was being used. It was not until I had missed my slot for the reverse ride down and was queueing half way up the stairs, that all of sudden another worker appeared and the 2nd line was able to operate. On getting down to the bottom, I was informed by my wife that complaints had been lodged and even though it was the first weekend in July, was told that they didn't have enough trained staff to operate both lines at once. I find that abit of a poor excuse for a big concern as especially at weekends when it is more busy, that should have been a must. Its not as though its only just opened which you could accept, it's been opened a good few years and thought the supposedly answer of untrained staff was a bit limp, to say the least. Wheelchairs are available but from where you collected them from, you have to get down a steep hill and up the other side and then along a dusty path to book in. The whole experience lasted about 2 hrs and 30 minutes which wasn't too bad as the weather was red hot and you can see them come down, as there are out door seating but no where under cover to watch if the weather is bad. Really enjoyed myself but it would have been better if the staff situation was sorted out earlier. Been on the one in Bethesda in Wales which was much better organised. Well worth a visit to see for yourself as things could...
