Arrived this afternoon and went down to the enchanted village. Was welcomed on the decking by a fridge! Random. But turned out it contained the last residents Chinese take away! Hair balls and used straws on the decking. Inside two bath towels and three hand towels for 5 of us...maybe I'm being harsh. Adding insult to injury a make up removal pad(again possibly the last resident) on top of the mirror in the bathroom. Went to call reception and the phone didn't work! Popped up to reception and asked for to get fridge and towels sorted. Got a wee apologie. Went to the water park and got in no worries. Went to a changing room and the first one I went into had a used little swimmer and a left over picnic lying on the bench . I appreciate this is not necessarily alton towers fault. The pool was great. Came back to the village over two hours later. Nothing had changed! Called customer services and chatted to a lovely lady, she out me through to reception at the enchanted village and they cut me off! Called back to customer services....both these calls on my mobile as the phone in the room does not work, explained the problem and asked for it to be sorted. On the way out popped into reception again and asked them just to move the fridge...argh! Came back after 9 and was chatting to our neighbour...he thanked me and I asked why. He said first series have been down a cleaned his fridge and given him and his wife new towels! Brilliant. We both laughed. Anyway. Eventually got towels, got rid of Chinese and have a fridge that works. Still no phone but that's a work in progress. Here is hoping that the next two days improve bit as they say first impressions last.

Booked an overnight stay. In essence it's a really cute lodge and you get some basic amenities like a kettle and tea and your own bathroom with a bath/shower unlike the stargazing pods. If you're set on staying over, it's an easy option without the garish rooms. But there are some downsides. On the walk to the lodge, the signs where there are cul-de-sacs don't tell you all the numbers in the cul-de-sac at the entrance so you have to go in and look for further signs to know if you're in the right area. There was a pile of white linen and bedsheets on the floor outside in the mud from the time we checked in at 6pm to when we got up in the morning at 9am. The TV doesn't allow for streaming or casting, the beds are uncomfortable, there are huge cobwebs and dust everywhere. I think the scariest thing was when I used the hairdryer it made a really weird noise, the heating elements were going bright red, and then started burning and smoking. When I tried to call reception (press 0 and go for option 4) I got through to a switchboard who told me the reception don't take calls so they took my call and put a ticket in. Luckily we had hot water and electricity unlike another family we heard at reception. The dining options near the accommodations are poorly reviewed so we travelled to Heath House Kitchen for dinner which was a gorgeous and more intimate dinner (nice for us as we went as two adults no children). Closer options include The Bridge which is also popular. You need to book breakfast and even then it's mayhem and quite poor. And to top it all off, it's a 10am check out.

If you’ve ever dreamed of stepping into a world that feels like it’s been plucked straight from the pages of The Hobbit, The Enchanted Village Hotel at Alton Towers is your dream come true. From the moment you arrive, you’re transported into a whimsical world that could easily be mistaken for Bag End—the home of Bilbo Baggins himself. The rooms feel cozy, snug, and earthy, much like a hobbit’s den. The wood accents and natural tones really make you feel like you’ve taken a detour through The Shire. It’s not hard to imagine Gandalf knocking at the door and asking if you’re ready for an adventure. The beds are plush and the decor is charmingly rustic, with whimsical details everywhere you look—like you’re staying in a home carved out by some magical woodland creatures. It’s perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat after a day spent tackling roller coasters and theme park thrills. The setting of the hotel itself is picturesque, surrounded by trees that give it a secluded, magical vibe. As you wander through the grounds, you half-expect to run into elves or spot hobbits peeking out from behind bushes. It’s a place that truly celebrates nature with a touch of fantasy. One small downside? Like any good hobbit hole, the rooms are more on the cozy side, which means space might be a bit limited if you’re traveling with a large family. But for those seeking an immersive experience that brings Middle-earth to life, The Enchanted Village is nothing short of magical. After all, who wouldn’t want to feel like they’re living in a hobbit’s world, even just for a night?

Very disappointed with the stay this week. Rooms were very basic for £360+ for a family of 4 for one night! Not even enough tea bags to make a cup of tea for each of us and the mugs were filthy. In addition we had to queue twice to book in. We also checked our bags in and were told they would be put in our rooms when we came back - that did not happen. We had to carry them across the site with the kids. We went to eat in the hotel thinking it would be a good idea to sit down and book a table as we had young one (under 7) and a disabled person before watching the show. The main course took 95 minutes to arrive after chasing twice! When it did arrive they forgot two meals, and sauce (which was a chargeable extra) for the sirloin steak meal. The first day was completely spoilt for the family who were celebrating a special occasion. The second day started in the same way - we had booked a table for breakfast hoping to get into the park early but we had to queue for half an hour to get in, even though we had booked. The greeting of "sorry for your wait" which was said in the usual robotic way to every customer just did not cut the mustard - what is going on for such a well know and friendly place that use to value customer care? The food was not much better being very basic and the same as any other premier inn or travel lodge. Cramped, unclean tables was not the best way to start. The disabled access to the park has gone down hill too. It use to be that it was easy to bring a person in a wheelchair into the park and onto rides easily without too much of a wait. We had to wait 45 minutes to get the wrist band at the start. We had to wait over an hour to get on Galactic, in a cold very damp area, which is not at all acceptable for someone who is not mobile and in a chair and who can not keep warm. We are really disappointed. At least the rides lifted the spirits of...
