The golf was included as part of our hotel package. There was 8 in our party and this seemed a very popular attraction perhaps other guest had done just as we did and travel to Alton towers for the day and stay over the night before heading back home the following day. So this was busy. There are two courses to chose from both equally as good as each other. There is a little kiosk at the front where you get your clubs and balls from and that's it, no one actually manned the golf so we didn't actually realize we should of only done one but ended doing both which was a lovely bonus. Please appreciate if you have larger parties and young children this can take quite some time and others build up behind quite quickly. Unfortunately we experienced these issues and other users weren't quite as respectful as others therefore ended up with children going a head of their parents and attempting to jump on our turns.

The free voucher with the hotel is the first 9 holes. They are ok and with the family good fun. Upgrade when asked when getting your clubs for £1.50 or so each and you get the next 9 holes which are the really good ones.
It takes about an hour for a family of four to do 9 holes at a gentle pace which is nice when you want to pass some time before going back to the hotel or waiting for the car...
