We drove past this reservoir so decided to visit as the doggies were getting a bit hot. Upon entering you'll see lots of all car parks along the reservoir road. These are all pay and display ones. We paid £5.50 for up to 4h. I am glad we did as we barely made it back in time. Once parked you'll notice there are lots of signs highlighting the different trails you can take, the visitor centre, toilets and children's play area. Around here there are lots of picnic tables dotted around. We took the reservoir trail, it's about a 10km track around the reservoir. Now if you do bring your doggies please bear in mind that they have to be on a lead the whole time, there are signs everywhere to remind you of this. Certain areas around the reservoir are not accessible as they are conservation areas and there are lots of nesting birds about. The trail is very well maintained and relatively flat (few ups and downs but nothing too heavy). Along the track there are few areas with steps so these are not suitable for wheelchairs. The whole place is just beautiful. Opposite the visitor centre (around 5km along the trail) the whole place turns into an enchanted woodland where all you can hear are the birds chirping and your own breaths. Around the reservoir there are fields with livestock so another reason to keep doggies on the lead. Perfect place for first dates, romantic picnic or family day out, I just wouldn't bring the...
Read moreWe went there for a day trip out with the children. There is an extensive play area there which was good for all ages as there was some big bits and smaller bits for kids to climb on. Also a lovely zip line.
We went for the short walk route (yellow) and it didn't take us too long. We had a pushchair with us and a walking 5 year old. Both of the kids enjoyed a paddle in the river down near the bridge on the way back. It was stony there and I wished I'd packed their beach shoes to protect their toes but otherwise it's in shade and so is good to hide away from the sun!!!
We didn't do the longer walk but it looked doable without a buggy.
The cafe is very Coronovirus protected and they have track and trace and screens/masks etc in place. They are very kind and friendly and we had a lovely lunch. The shop at the front also sells goodies and of course ice cream!! We found it was quicker to nip in there than wait at the ice cream bar next to the playground area.
The toilets are near the play area and next to the cafe. There was disabled facilities and the cafe was all on the level for wheelchairs. There was also a disabled children's swing and the harness was fitted (which was nice to see as most don't have them).
All in all a good day out and was only £5 all day parking (BUT only takes change so...
Read moreTittesworth Reservoir is ideal for a family day out but plan ahead as it often becomes extremely busy with nicer weather.
There is a relatively large play area, large open areas of grass, various places outside to sit and enjoy some food/drink, and the visitor centre has a small café & resturant. There's also a boat house nearby & two walks on their map - a short loop long the reservoir and back, and a second that goes all the way around.
The walk around the reservoir is fairly easy going, but features steps and some ups/downs that would be unsuitable for those who are unsteady on foot or with larger buggys (going anticlockwise is slightly easier).
As this area is popular with dog walkers, expect to see plenty of dogs, although most folks respect the lead rule.
The car park is pretty large, but again, fills up quickly - and this is a paid car park with no real nearby option to...
