Had a lovely day here on the Bank Holiday Monday. On arrival we were greeted at the reception desk by a friendly guy who gave us an informative overview of what to do at the World of Wedgwood. The V&A Wedgwood exhibition was very fascinating. Wish we had time for the guided tour but the information provided inside the exhibit was very detailed so we still learnt so much! We did a 1hr clay pottery making taster session which was so much fun! Amy was so patient and supportive and helped us make 2 pieces each (a bowl and vase), talked us through the glazing options and delivery of our finished pieces in a few weeks time. We also enjoyed Afternoon tea in the tea room. Charlotte looked after us and ensured we had the right food for our dietary requirements and kept us replenished with hot pots of tea. The food was plentiful and tasted delicious - we were even given a ‘box’ to takeaway what we didn’t manage to finish. The parking and admission were free and the toilets were clean. The shop was great and we bought some souvenirs to take home. The only disappointment was that we couldn’t see the factory in operation or do a tour as it is currently closed until 1st Sept but we did know this before we visited. All in all a great place to spend some time but if you can visit Mon-Fri and not when factory closed on weekends, bank holidays or...
Read moreWe enjoyed the museum very much. Stopped by the cafe for a coffee/cake in the afternoon. No service to a table, just told sit anywhere. We sat at a dirty table, no one came to wipe the crumby table. Once our order was ready by the barista, she rang the bell twice & the same waiter ( scruffy young man) was in the background laughing & chatting, for a good 5 mins. Our coffees sat on the counter getting cold. I decided to take my own tray & serve myself because no waiter was serving us, even though there was a few around.
The coffee was ok, served in a massive open cup, however the salty caramel cheesecake, was bland, & definitely not a cheesecake. Looked attractive but completely tasteless & not fresh.
Time to pay, I approached the pay counter, ( no service at the table), and although the same waiter was standing reading 2 meters away, he ignored me again for a good few minutes, until I called out to him to pay.
Our complete experience on this day was horrible. I dont understand why we kept being ignored, possibly because we’re not English, but definitely don’t recommend wasting time here again.
The 2 gentleman at reception were very informative & kind. Full 5 stars to them. The cafe staff were not at all kind. We were very...
Read moreAfter reading about how family friendly this place was daughter and partner decided to book a day of painting plates etc with our young granddaughter (18 month old). She already loves painting and colouring. Initially, the staff were great, friendly and helpful. Even laughed and said it’s ok if our grand daughter gets paint on the table as it will clean up fine. Which you would expect from a ‘family friendly’ place. However…after a short time, the older lady on reception came in and stormed up to their table. She was very angry and rude in front of my daughter and 18 month old granddaughter. She angrily swiped all the paint and plate away from her saying ‘that’s enough now’, my daughter and partner have never felt so embarrassed and insulted in their life. Not to mention how she then proceeded to spray chemicals all over the table whilst they were still sat there. They could taste it in their mouths so I’m pretty sure my 18 month granddaughter could too. It was the worst family experience I have ever heard of. We will all definitely steer clear in future. I recommend you to NEVER take young children to that place. It was quite expensive yet they came away with nothing except feeling hurt and embarrassed…Shame on...
