I would have rated today's visit a five star visit if we were not treated by the staffs harshly around the exit time leading up to the fireworks.
I got them over 20 guests there and some of my friends gathered at the soft play towards 4pm, but when I went in with my dad and my toddler, they stopped me and told me a lot of the rules such as you need to leave in 5 minutes if you're not staying for the fireworks. But then a lot of the people who were not staying for the fireworks stayed till 4:30pm and beyond, and left in their own pace without being pestered. Because some friends are staying for the fireworks, I tried to find out about upgrading our farm day tickets, so my family can continue stay in the soft play.
During that time they checked on my dad a second time and asked him to get a ticket. Perhaps he looks foreign and is sitting in the same place, he became an easy target for them to pester, I can even hear them talking on the interphone referring directly to my dad on and on.
Around 4:30pm, I went to the gift shop to find out about the upgrade, then had to come back to discuss with my family but there was no signal, I was given a hard time by the door guard. Then after we decided to go ahead, I quickly run to get the ticket, and came back to the soft play, it was 4:45, only to find out the staff have grabbed hold of our belongings on the table and pestering my dad again, and there are three staff over him (who does not understand them or speak English). I explained to them that I just got the ticket, we didn't mean to break any rules, and they shouldn't have removed our stuff from the table and bully my dad who cannot communicate with them, without finding out about the situation. They were like because of you, you're delaying us clearing the space so that the people with firework tickets can enter. But they are clearly lying because one, there are other people in the space who are still leaving and also not got a firework ticket, two, the firework entry is 5pm and even after they completed checking our ticket it was 4:50pm and during the time I spoke to them I did not see a single person being let in for the firework, so we're not delaying people coming in, people are not coming in because it was not time yet.
Later on I went into the soft play with my toddler and I saw most of the kids don't have the wrist bands on them nor do the parents have anything visible, and I did not see them being pestered. My husband came in after me, and according to the first staff who told me off for entering late and not got a firework ticket, he should not be let in, but nobody said anything when he walked in, he also haven't got a wrist band on his hand and he has not been questioned the whole time, while they went for my dad the third time since my husband came in.
I feel that trying to sell two types of tickets and clearing half of the people from the same venue before the natural exit time by a wrist band or by a few staff keeping an eye on a few people is really stupid, and perhaps them repeating to me about the rules not to my husband who is British, or getting a go at my dad who is actually getting a ticket is stupid too, perhaps racist. And to remove our belongings before finding out whether my dad is having someone with him to have got him a ticket is extremely rude. One of the staffs who surrounded my dad was actually the same person who has found out for me about the upgrade, and I'm surprised his short term memory doesn't work that a few minutes ago I just went to get the ticket, it makes me feel it is all about money, and nothing humanity. A HUGE DISGRACE, especially to someone who got them over 20 guests without a group...
Read moreI've been to the farm on Sunday 27th, with my husband (ill on that day though), our 8yo boy and 4yo girl, and our friends (with kids aged 8, 13, 14), and we all loved it! The weather was beautiful and we had a chance to see all the animals enjoying the sunny day outside.. we saw the donkeys playing and running along the fields, mummy pig and her amazing piglets cuddling, the goats happily interacting with all the people giving them the food (available to buy by the entrance, at the gift shop).. and lots of other animals! We had wellies the whole time, but our friends kept their trainers and were fine too, I would check the weather and bring wellies just in case of muddy ground, or at least bring some spare shoes and keep them in your car! :) The kids loved both the indoor and outdoor play areas, there are several benches where you can have your picnic, or you can buy food at the café (where the indoor play area is, so you can watch your kids playing, and relax with a cup of tea/coffee!), or have a nice lunch at the restaurant. There are water refill areas for your bottles too. We chose to go during the Halloween weekend mostly for the pumpkins carving, we had to wait 20/30 minutes before our turn but we didn't even notice because the free minigolf kept the kids (and dads) entertained the whole waiting time! The pumpkin carving experience was fun too, we all had a great time! The day was definitely worth the £15.95 ticket (per person), and we'll go back again in the future. The only thing I'm not very happy about is the non-refundable/changeable ticket: my husband had high temperature and we'd be happy to push the visit back to the 29th or 30th, but it was not possible either change the day or get a refund.. so he came just for making the kids happy. The tickets sell pretty fast and it's a shame not to have a chance to change the day of the...
Read moreIt was great. We went for my grandfather's birthday party and rented a barn for the day. The barn was hygienic (no creepy-crawlies or funny-looking stains) and warm & dry, despite the horrendous rain- & thunderstorm. British weather, amirite? There was a surplus of seating, so all 9 of us (+ 3 toddlers) were able to fit comfortably around the table for food. There was a bin inside, however it didn't separate between landfill and recycling, so if that matters to you (which it should), you may want to bring your own bag for recycling.
The female toilets were OK. They were certainly usable and relatively clean (albeit with a few eight-legged squatters) and had both soap and loo roll, however the seats were wonky so if that bothers you, you'd better be ready to hold it. I don't know about the quality of the male toilets since I'm not allowed in them, but I'd assume they're of a similar.
There were a wide variety of animals and areas for children to run around, most with sheltered benches nearby. There were also many facts dotted about, which were quite interesting!
Furthermore, there was a soft play place inside, which the kids (and some of the more adventurous adults) loved. It was a bit chocca though on the ground, we struggled with seating, and the tiny, round tables were pathetic at best. Not good for large parties, though smaller groups should be fine. The staff weren't supervising the soft play, although there was clear safety signage, though it wasn't entirely pictorial, so younger kids and other illiterate folk should be watched by their designated guardians. There are also toilets at the soft play, refer to...
