Can see why it is only a fiver per person entry, and to be honest, even that feels expensive once you are in!
Prebooked entry for a family of five and a bag of animal feed each, taking the hit on the booking fee as online entry is advertised as a saving over gate price...However on entry the gate price is the same as the prebook price!
The lady at the entrance told us that the person holding the feed bag was to stand back from the fence while the children fed the animals as the goats had learned to steal the bag. However, the animals weren't interested in our presence or the food we were holding out for them.
There is a distinct lack of animals present with a couple of lamas, a handful of sheep with a few goats, a few chickens, and a couple of ponies. Of which a sheep and the two ponies came anywhere near the fence.
The quad train and some other items advertised on the website are not present at all, so we managed to spend an hour on site and the staff were not surprised at all by ourselves and a second family who arrived behind us leaving after such a short time.
There is no escape from the elements, even the "roundhouse" is a wooden circle with open sides and doubles as an eating area and peddle tractor circuit. The toilet facilities are a couple of portaloo and the wild trail which looked like it would possibly at least add some pigs to your visit was gated and locked and so inaccessible.
The tractor and combine style equipment in the play area is a nice touch but my 5 year old got confused as to a way off the combine as every access point seems geared towards actually climbing on to the thing.
We will not be returning and would suggest no one else wastes their time or money other. I drove 55minutes to attend this farm and even with very little to do we can usually make our time on site at an attraction outlast our round trip commute, however on this occasion we managed to just eck the on site time to be over the...
Read moreA Delightful Day Out at Over Farm, Gloucester We recently spent a lovely day at Over Farm with my wife and our 3-year-old granddaughter, and it was nothing short of delightful. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming and family-friendly, with plenty to keep little ones entertained and adults relaxed. Our granddaughter was absolutely enchanted. The animal encounters were a highlight—she was thrilled to see the goats, pigs, and chickens up close. The staff were friendly and patient, making the experience feel safe and engaging for her. The tractor ride was another big hit, offering just the right amount of excitement without being overwhelming. The farm itself is beautifully maintained, with wide open spaces perfect for a stroll or a picnic. We appreciated how easy it was to navigate with a pushchair, and there were plenty of shaded spots to rest when needed. Activities Galore; Between the play area, Foam Cannon party, and interactive reptile exhibits, there was never a dull moment. It’s clear that Over Farm puts a lot of thought into creating a magical experience for families. Over Farm is a gem for families with young children. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, enjoy nature, and make lasting memories. We left with full hearts, tired feet (Granddaughter slept all the way home in the car, which is unlike her), and a very happy granddaughter who’s already asking when we...
Read moreEven though it’s a little pricy for a farm, you can see they have put time, effort and thought into all the areas and what they are doing. The staff who are on show are full of energy and enthusiasm from the moment you are in the line to get in. The songs are age appropriate and so is the acting and shows. There is plenty to do whilst there including bouncy pillows, tractor rides, play areas, shows, trailer rides, and each half term they do something different. I do wish they would open in term time for under 5’s I would go regularly with friends and our kids.
A few more benches outside would be good esp around the play equipment area. And some equipment needs fixing. Like the duck races and the steering wheels on the trailers. But maybe they don’t know?
They keep the farm tidy and have it well organised. A tractor ride takes you around the farm. As a suggestion a stop off tractor would be ideal for those who can’t walk far. Stopping to drop off at the top of the farm and they can catch one back later once they are ready. We didn’t find the time to go up there today which was a shame as it closed at 4pm. There is still much that can be done to give even more of a wow factor. For example they could do goat walking. (We did this recently at a farm and it was a bit hit) But my stars are 5 for today as everyone had a great day. Well Done to...
