This place,Birchington on Sea near Margate,is a little gem. It has a lovely clean sandy beach, safe bathing and enough facilities for a small seaside resort. There are also kayaks for hire. Parking is free in the bays along the sea front and there is ample disabled parking.(Toilets located by the main car park and entrance to the beach). It was the first time i visited recently and i loved it.Beach huts line the promenade and there is a small shack where you can get coffee, rolls and sandwiches etc. For those more agile you can walk along the coastal path towards Reculver or hire a pedalo. I cannot believe after all the years i have travelled this way that i missed this very British seaside resort. I can also say that i found the people i spoke to here very friendly, especially the beach hut owners or renters. ( Don't bother enquiring about renting the beach huts because they are so desirable they are not taking booking enquiries until 2022!.Apparently they are only around £300 to rent for the summer season!). You can guess that i recommend this lovely little resort. If you decide to visit here aim to arrive before around 11am for easier parking.(Earlier at the weekend).

We had a beautiful day yesterday. The weather was glorious and the beaches were practically empty (although it was whilst the kiddies are at school). Lovely stroll along the promenade and an awesome lunch at The Wave. We stayed until sunset and captured some amazing photos. There was ample free parking along the parade, but if not there is a pay & display car park. The Wave cafe/restaurant is highly recommended. Food was lovely and staff are friendly. There is another bar/restaurant opposite, but we didn't try that one. Also, when the tide is out there is a huge rock pool for the little ones to explore. So check the tide times to be able to do this. However, now for the bad comments. Be prepared for the awful smell of seaweed. The smell can be very, very strong and smells like manure. It can be very off putting. When the tide is out make sure you be careful of the stranded jellyfish left on the beach. The other problem is there could have been more toilets, as there are only a couple of places with portaloo's (which were clean), but some of them were locked, leaving only one at each end of the promenade, apart from in the cafe and bar I presume.

Really liked Minnis Bay. Kept meaning to go and have a look, finally did and we will definitely be going back. Sandy beaches with easy access, completely different to Herne Bay and Margate. There are only a few shops etc so a much quieter place, which won't suit some people... The Tidal Pool is not as big as the one in Margate and don't know how busy it gets at peak times, but will be going back to find out. The road along the coast raises up along the cliffs and gives beautiful views across the area and to Margate. The only real negative is there are only, I think, two roads in, which is probably why it is quieter here. I don't want to encourage too many people to go, as I'd rather it stayed quiet!!
