Great peaceful place to visit and walk around, nice and quiet here with only the very distant roar of traffic, and the wind. Came here last night and the skies were clear, not a cloud in the sky, and you can see for miles in any direction. Arrived at about 6:30 pm, and was still sunny, and walked around until it turned night and caught an amazing sunset. The place is a bit of a trek to get to if you don't live local, I had to drive here and parked on Brindle Lane, just outside the reserve. The reserve itself has 2 car parks, but honestly I wouldn't park my car there, as all I saw was people in their cars with the engines running, lights on and on their phone, or outside their cars drinking alcohol and smoking weed. That's the only real let down about this park. On the other side of the alleyway (down from the war memorial) there was a car parked right at the gate for 1h20m with its engine running the whole time, just polluting up the park. It was an ideal night, not cold, not warm, just right, so I don't get why cars had all their engines running. Unfortunately I had to walk through the first carpark when it was pitch back and had to walk past 10 cars, with a very strong smell of weed. The war memorial was nice to see, and happy to say it was clean and well kept, did not see any graffiti, which is a refreshing change. Take a torch if you are planning to go at night, there is no lighting in the park (except...
ย ย ย Read moreGreat views over the West Midlands from the highest view point at 'Lovers Lane' and the memorial Pergoda/bandstand. Is unfortunately situated/accessed at both points by a main road and two very steep narrow driveways, so even though a countryside/nature landmark, ironically safer to drive and park up! Great for walking the dog and although you may go off into a more remote countryside ramble, if you stick to the two main plateau, its quite open, family friendly and likely youll encounter the odd dog walker, horse rider or family on a stroll. I found more recently, it dosnt appear at all 'manicured' or maintained, so found the lack of designated foot paths around the sides/hills etc made it extremely difficult to make the most of a the full area, especially with the dog, and mostly covered in gorse bushes, which is rather unforgiving and i wouldnt advise it! Still a lovely old...
ย ย ย Read moreIncredible spot FREE all welcome, especially if you are local. Simply drive in and park to explore around. Spectacular views, panoramic 360 almost. Shame about the punks, drug users, and disrespectful dirty scoundrels, leaving litter. They probably can't even read this. Just a warning to all good law abiding citizens. If you can ignore the mess left behind, or accasional tyre screeching thugs. Surely should be policed, or monitored. For us to enjoy, fabulous views. Stunning short walk will give you the best views ever. Check out what I managed to capture with a brief stopover. Dramatic, left me humbled & speechless at the splendour & beauty of our world. Love it share it...
