Beautiful place really stunning … unfortunately the young guy working at the Shant cafe was incredibly, unnecessarily rude to me and my family, we were kind and friendly, I ordered a coffee and after having told us he was cleaning the coffee machine and would be five minutes ( so we waited nearly ten minutes for his to serve one man infront of us ) he then rudely denied having said that and bluntly told us he turned the machine off ( this was at about 2:40 )
So I ordered a water, then he asked another family member what the wanted .. then seemed incredibly disgruntled that we were paying separately ( even though I have already put my five pounds down for my water of which I received about £1.35 change.. insane price for a water
Family then paid for her ice creams for children and the money was slammed down on the counted and fell off onto the floor… to which he completely ignored
I was so close to telling him how disgraceful his attitude was but fairly certain he would have rolled his eyes and ignored it completely
What a shame. What a way to begin a wonderful afternoon.
A negative dampener on what otherwise would have been a perfectly lovely afternoon
Doesn’t deserve that job and didn’t seem like he really wanted it either.

Read moreWe, older hikers, spent 2/3 of day walking w little dog, was nice. Not too many people first thing, car parking easy. Staff welcoming as was pleasing entrance. Gardens seem kept well & colours of mature fawna and trees outstanding. Dog enjoyed it, was & needed to be well behaved. There needs to be more dog waste bins. Some ducks and geese, large Koi looked healthy. However very little other wild life seen and trees were absent of bird life & song, might come alive at night or first thing. Picnic was peaceful & picturesque. Toilets clean at entrance & saw powered scooters available. Small live garden centre economical w carvings etc. Enjoy its quiet, haunting compact, dark...
