Black Park in Wexham is truly one of Buckinghamshire's most impressive natural spaces with heathland and open spaces, this country park offers an exceptional outdoor experience for visitors of all ages.

The walking trails are the standout feature of Black Park. Miles of well-maintained paths wind through varied terrain, from dense woodland to open meadows. The main circular route around the park provides a perfect walk, while numerous smaller trails branch off, allowing visitors to explore more secluded areas. The paths are generally flat and accessible, making them suitable for all fitness levels, though some woodland trails can get muddy after rain.

At the heart of the park lies a vast, serene lake that serves as a haven for waterfowl and other bird species. During my visit, I've spotted everything from majestic swans and various duck species to the occasional heron standing sentinel at the water's edge. The lakeside path offers spectacular views across the water, with strategically placed benches perfect for peaceful contemplation or bird watching.

Children are exceptionally well catered for at Black Park. The main playground is extensive and thoughtfully designed with equipment for various age groups. From traditional swings and slides to more adventurous climbing frames, it keeps younger visitors thoroughly entertained. There's also a separate toddler area with age-appropriate equipment, ensuring the littlest visitors aren't left

The park's facilities are comprehensive and well-maintained. The café offers a good selection of hot and cold food, beverages, and ice creams - perfect for refueling after a long walk. Clean, accessible toilets are available near the main entrance, and picnic areas are scattered throughout the park for those bringing their own refreshments.

The ample parking area can accommodate hundreds of vehicles, which is essential during busy summer weekends and bank holidays. While it operates on a pay-and-display system, the fees are reasonable considering the quality of the park (approximately £3-4 for 2-4 hours at my last visit). The parking area is well-organized with clear signage.

Black Park strikes an impressive balance between natural beauty and visitor amenities. Whether you're seeking a peaceful nature walk, a family day out, or a scenic spot for exercise, this versatile park delivers on all fronts. It's no surprise that it remains extremely popular most likely due to its own unique charm to...

Black Park Country Park is awesome. Offers a refreshing escape into nature, perfect for families, adventurers, and anyone seeking a peaceful retreat. As you enter the park, you're immediately greeted by an impressive array of trees that create a lush, green canopy, filtering sunlight and giving the area a serene forest feel. The diverse flora adds to the charm, making every stroll a visual delight.

The fresh air is invigorating, and it’s hard not to feel revitalized as you wander through the winding paths. The tranquillity of the surroundings is enhanced by the sounds of rustling leaves and chirping birds, providing a perfect backdrop for relaxation or contemplation.

One of the park's standout features is its beautiful lake, which not only serves as a picturesque focal point but also as a habitat for a variety of wildlife. Spotting ducks and other birds adds a delightful touch to any visit, and the reflections of the trees on the water create stunning photo opportunities.

For families, the children's play area is a fantastic addition, offering a safe and engaging space for kids to explore and have fun. The facilities are well-maintained and cater to various age groups, ensuring that children can enjoy themselves while parents relax nearby.

For those seeking a bit more adventure, the Go Ape facilities provide an exhilarating experience high up in the trees. The treetop ropes course and zip lines are not just thrilling but also offer unique views of the park from above, making it a perfect activity for thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike.

Overall, Black Park Country Park is a versatile destination that beautifully combines relaxation, adventure, and family fun. Whether you're looking to enjoy a peaceful walk, engage with wildlife, or tackle the treetops, this park has something for everyone. It’s definitely...

Black Park really feels like a hidden gem in the suburbs — the size is generous (over 500 acres of woodland, heath and open space) , so there’s plenty of room to roam without feeling too crowded. The walking trails around the lake are peaceful and scenic — there’s a 3.4 km circular route that shows off the lake and the woods beautifully. The park is well maintained, and you’ll notice wildlife and birdlife if you meander off the beaten path. There’s a good-sized car park but it can fill up on busy days, so arriving early is wise.

As for costs and extras: parking isn’t free — it can run up to about £5.70 depending on time and demand, payable by card, cash or via an app (Ringo) . If you’re after a big adrenaline fix, Go Ape Black Park is a highlight: their Treetop Challenge is one of the pricier options, with other levels like Treetop Adventure and Nets Adventure more family-friendly. Reviews say it’s well run, but do expect to pay for the thrill. For food, the Lakeside Café (on-site) is a good go-to for light meals or snacks mid-walk. Beyond that your best bet is to bring a picnic or plan something in...
