My first experience at Farlows was not the best if I m honest. Me and a friend planned on fishing farlows lake 1 at the weekend and we had done a lot of preparation, spent a fair amount of money on the trip. I have been keeping an eye on Facebook and Instagram updates and there website showed they were open. We arrived after a fairly long journey too find out that lake 1 was closed for a match.
The first person I spoke to from the angling direct shop said it was advertised all over social media sites.
The second person said the same. So I asked him to show us.
It turned out that they had put it on a farlows group page that you have to join to read the messages....
Not everyone reads groups and as I have never been there before I definitely wasn't even aware of the group. Also I don't wanna be in a group!
There website shows "no bookings first come first serve" well this clearly isn't the case at farlows is it?
Not only is that false advertising, we got blamed for the mistake for not calling in advance! Can you imagine if everyone called the shop before arriving? They would never be off the phone with that many swims!
We also spoke to other anglers who had said they had the same issue.
Advertise your matches farlows! Add a calendar to your website and make the link available on your social media.
There map for lake 2 wrong also.
I would like to say I would go back but the place has left a sour taste in my mouth and I hope this review will be helpful to others before arriving...
Read moreSo...it's a well looked after lake with mostly good swims and a proper tackle shop. You can drive and park next to a lot of the swims aswell and they have some lovely fish. HOWEVER..... some of the people working/running the place are pretty rude and it can be very 'clicky'. I have honestly felt pretty uncomfortable on a couple of occasions fishing here for that reason. Also, a number of the swims are litteraly on top of each other and at weekends when weather is OK is super crammed with people fishing on top of each other. After my last visit, I had one of the guys come round to check my ticket who was pretty rude to me for no good reason. I also had people casting around my swim. For this reason I won't be back. There are other more local fisheries to me with some decent fish who appreciate the customers more, and have swims better spaced out. If your in with the people at Farlows, you will love it. Im not saying its a bad place, but i like to go fishing to relax and chill out as well as catch as a few lumps. I don't think Farlows Is the...
Read moreThis lake is probably one of the best carp fishing lake in the country, also they have some stunning looking carp. They have 3 lake on the site Lake 1 is the biggest one fish up to 40+. Lake 2 is smaller one, Lake 3 is like a small pond. The staff is really helpful they always there to help you if you have any questions just ask them!! They really look after they fish, that is why they ask all anglers to Dip they fishing equipments (net/mat/sling). You don't have to buy your ticket when you arrive first you can look around and if you found the area where you want to fish you just leave your bucket there and then you go buy the Ticket. This is really helpful for the anglers, as your time starts from the time you bought your ticket. There is onsite Tackle shop (Angling Direct) The shop is well equipped, baits/clothing/tackle everything fishing. Toilet and Shower facility on the lake which is 24hr open. And also they have takeaway or eat in buffet sort of thing.
I would recommend it to everyone to try...
