Orrell Water Park is a lovely little spot that’s perfect for a peaceful walk or a bit of outdoor time with family. The park itself is well-kept, with two fishing lakes, ducks to watch, and a nice flat path that makes for an easy stroll. It’s quiet, clean, and feels like a bit of countryside tucked into the town.
We usually do a longer route from the water park up to Billinge Hill, and it’s a brilliant walk. The trail takes you through a mix of woodland, fields, and country lanes, with plenty of scenic views along the way. Once you reach the top of Billinge Hill, the view is amazing — you can see right across to Winter Hill, and even the Welsh hills on a clear day.
It’s a great route for getting out in nature without needing to travel far. Definitely recommend it for walkers of all levels — just wear decent footwear if it's been raining, as it can get...

Benches are also available and can be found around the lake area and some more intricate and hidden away parts of the park.
Overall, if you want a lovely place to walk around surrounded by nature, then look no further than...

The pathways are reasonably well maintained and, despite heavy rain in the couple of days before we went, had drained pretty well. I would recommend boots or good walking shoes, as the path surfaces are rough in nature, but trainers will work if the weather isn't too wet.
You won't get all day out of a trip to Orrell Water Park, but it's a great way to spend a couple of hours getting some...
