Orrell Water Park is a lovely little spot that’s perfect for a peaceful walk or a bit of outdoor time with family. The park itself is well-kept, with two fishing lakes, ducks to watch, and a nice flat path that makes for an easy stroll. It’s quiet, clean, and feels like a bit of countryside tucked into the town.

We usually do a longer route from the water park up to Billinge Hill, and it’s a brilliant walk. The trail takes you through a mix of woodland, fields, and country lanes, with plenty of scenic views along the way. Once you reach the top of Billinge Hill, the view is amazing — you can see right across to Winter Hill, and even the Welsh hills on a clear day.

It’s a great route for getting out in nature without needing to travel far. Definitely recommend it for walkers of all levels — just wear decent footwear if it's been raining, as it can get...

Great park, loads of paths to walk about on and usually has very friendly and sensible people walking around. Student and younger people usually hang around the park area and don't tend to go on the longer paths and walks so if you prefer more peace and quiet then I recommend you go down on of those instead.

Looks absolutely amazing during summer time and there is an array of activities and features to be involved in, fishing is possible at the area and many will relax in their tents or have picnics on the grass areas. Benches are also available and can be found around the lake area and some more intricate and hidden away parts of the park.

Overall, if you want a lovely place to walk around surrounded by nature, then look no further than...

This was our first visit to Orrell Water Park, and it was a very pleasant surprise. For a start, parking was free which is very unusual these days. There are maps dotted around which show the routes around the park, as well as the neighbouring nature reserve, which always helps.

The pathways are reasonably well maintained and, despite heavy rain in the couple of days before we went, had drained pretty well. I would recommend boots or good walking shoes, as the path surfaces are rough in nature, but trainers will work if the weather isn't too wet.

You won't get all day out of a trip to Orrell Water Park, but it's a great way to spend a couple of hours getting some...

£5 per day for fishing £100/season. well, it's got carp in it, see people regularly throwing 3l tubs of boillies into the lakes but there is hardly anything else in there. Not worth it at all for pleasure fishing, shame really as I can't see anyone paying £100. For a walk around it's a nice place. Plenty of space to have a look around. Unfortunately the bins are only placed near to the carpark (easier for the council to empty) this means the lazy dog walkers leave their waste all over the place.
