Visited here on Sunday 9th July. Hadn't eaten here for a number of years and was unsure as to what to expect. My lady friend persuaded me to give it a try, as we were already in the area.
The layout of the restaurant area looked nice and cosy, suitably away from the pub area where the locals might become too rowdy for some tastes (joke). The service was prompt, friendly enough and efficient, the staff largely representing the establishment well.
Having perused the menu perhaps a bit too long (just for a change), I undecidedly plumped for the steak brioche (no baguettes left), with coleslaw, peppers and salad and a side portion of fries. My partner went for the sweet and sour chicken with noodles.
Presentation wise the food looked great. Maybe the pint of Guinness wasn't the best choice of beverage on this occasion, to accompany the food. But this aside, the portion sizes were good and it all tasted nice. The only slight let down was the quality of the steak strips. They weren't really done the way I asked and half of it was far too tough and chewy. The portion of fries was perhaps a bit too big also. But my partner loved her meal and overall we can't complain too much.
So, I would recommend this place for people looking to have a nice cosy meal in a nice relaxing environment. I would just advise...
Read moreSo today me and my family decided to go and try the Delph Tavern as rumours are the food is amazing! I ordered the sunday chicken dinner which was amazing couldn't fault that at all so thank you to the chef! But.... I ordered my 2 year old daughter 2 scoops of vanilla and strawberry icecream lets makes this clear she nearly choked on a large peace of plastic that to me and her dad looked like ice at first glance but when we took it out of our babies mouth is was plastic. we called the young man who was the waiter he took the peace of plastic to the kitchen and then came back to apologise and said the ice cream tub had broken and he was sorry and to refund us the price of ice cream off our bill. Nothing else was done I think that is very shocking considering my 2 year old daughter nearly choked and that was the outcome! I hope in further if the ice cream tub breaks then they act very quickly as that would cause you alot of problems. I wont be coming back for the...
Read moreA totally unmemorable experience in a grotty run down pub with an identity crisis and trying to be something it isn't. Do you come here to watch sport or enjoy an upmarket dining experience?Scruffy signs abound with out of date "award" certificates festooning scruffy windows. We were given tatty menus bearing the legend "Winter 2018 menu" and there was no proper wine list to be had; one choice of red wine only. Food was average to poor and not well presented. How this place survives beggars belief. Steer well clear!
The owners need to take a long hard look at this operation if they want to attract and...
