A gem of a place, close enough to the M4 and A34 to hear a background swish of traffic yet in the heart of nature, Snelsmore Common is managed by BBOWT. The common and surrounding areas are criss-crossed with well marked routes of different lengths and difficulties for walkers, cyclists and (horse) riders and there's an easy access trail suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. For children who want something in addition to scrabbling about in the undergrowth hunting for bugs, there's a fun-looking crayon rubbing trail.

Distinct habitats range from heathland via woodland to bogs (officially known as mires) and ponds, so look out for their associated wildlife (newts, nightjars and nuthatches), tree (sweet chestnut, oak, beech) and other plant (heather, bluebell, gorse, sundew, orchid) life.

There are loos (only open when the adjacent café is open) near the car parks and plenty of picnic tables (including some that are...

Great place for wondering around. You need a good sense of direction if you go off the main tracks. Excellent for picnics and familys, bring your own food. There is now a small cafe there, but dont know ehen it is open. The toilets are ok. Fairly clean and respectable at the entrance. Probably one of the few places that is still free to use. Having been going here since I was a child with my family and more recently since my parents passing it holds a lot of memories, both past and present. Also excellent for dog walking but there are areas they need to be on a lead as horses have freedom to roam. I would for one like to see it kept the way it is. There is plenty of parking areas and...

Lovely place for a walk. The car park is big and although it can get busy you should be able to find a space. Parking is free but there's a donation machine by the toilets.

Toilets were nice and clean.

There are lots of places to walk with some wide paths so there are good options if you have reduced mobility.

The shop sells ice creams, hot drinks, fresh cakes and was reasonably priced. The cafe/shop closes at 4pm and the car park closes at 6pm. There's outdoor seating if you want to sit and eat/drink.

This is a great place for a meet up with friends. There is lots of space around you and you don't have to get too close to other people so you can have some peaceful...

An enjoyable late spring jaunt around the well maintained footpaths of the Snelsmore Common Country Park. Visited both Saturday and Sunday just after 8 pm. You do have to park in the front car park near the toilets as the main car park gets locked at 8 pm. You could tell that the daytime had been busy as the bins were overflowing, but at this time of the evening, there was hardly anyone here. There are plenty of routes to take that are easygoing, flat, and leisurely. The outer route path is especially good for dogs. You can find loops of 2 to 3 km easily completed within about an hour without rushing.

Stopped off to give Spike a walk, it's a lovely well maintained wood. Plenty of parking and a small café and toilets at the entrance to the common. There is an asphalt path for less abled people, with a good amount of seats along the route, especially for people like me and my arthritic knees. There is also a good selection of mapped routes for others. Picnic areas surrounded by wildlife. Eventhough the car parks were quite full, wandering around the common, there weren't many people about, I could hear children and families in the distance. It was a very pleasant wander.

We visited to do a round walk through the common and onto Donnington Castle. The parking area is well kept off road parking with plenty of spaces. By the entrance to the carpark there are public toilets. Next to the parking area there are a number of open spaces with benches and picnic tables. The area is a nice mix of woodland, common and grassed fields. There are a number of colour coded walking paths which make navigation easy. Tip. Come and see the ponies just past the main parking area.
