Walked from the King George way over the hill to Bidston Hall. It must be the only hill in the UK that has a windmill, an Observatory and a lighthouse on top of it. You can get a very good view of Liverpool from there. I believe before telephones were invented, there used to be tall flagpoles based on it that used different coloured flags to notify the docks in Liverpool of incoming ships.
