We are from NJ but our relatives lives in phila and subarbs. We have been in the park for several times but we will not go there again because of so much restrictions. I am a 77 yr old guy and my wife and her sisters are all in their 70s wc is hard foe them to walk down the steep road and especially going back to the parking lot. Thw park guard wont allow vehicles to go down the hill to drop off?their picnic load and the ild folks who could hardly walk!! There was a old couple older than us aho tbe wife coukd hardly make it to the top of the hill where the parking is located. The husband beffed thw guard the drive the wife at least up to the top of tge hill. They refused. So I dont know how long did the couple took them to reach the top bc we already left. I really feel sorry for the old couple!! The guard said there was a reckless driving incident at park not to long ago. If its an isolated case why do they put a gate and dont let picnickets drop off their load and drive back up to the parking lot! It's a beautiful park and it should shared tp everyone w/o too much restriction. Btw the guards sounded arrogant when I talked to them esp the older gent. Is it because...
Read moreFor cyclists, this may be the gateway to Philadelphia's Pennypack Park and Northeast Philly: it connects Montgomery County's Pennypack Trail to those areas of the city. For others, though, it is a pleasant place to walk beside a (yesterday, at least) quiet stream, or picnic, or play. There are several signs, "Dogs not allowed", but that only applies to the "Activity area" and picnic grounds. (I didn't realize this, and avoided the park for decades, thinking that I could not walk my dog there for some reason.) The trail along the creek is an easy trail, and pleasant, as I said above, but it is a little disconcerting to be looking across the stream into the backyards of the houses that abut the stream. It is early spring, if spring at all, and so perhaps in a month or two the foliage, the leaves, will make that a little less shocking. As it is, my wife and I laughed at the idea of someone sitting quietly on one of the trailside benches, enjoying the view of laundry, flapping in the breeze. (Disclaimer: we saw no laundry yesterday, save in our...
Read moreThanks to all the reviewers because this park is worth it. Enjoyed the trail tremendously. Took hubby and kids out on Father's Day 2022 and it was fabulous and peaceful. Hubby isn't a huge walker but he enjoyed it and wants to return. The pics shown are right on. First thing upon park entrance we seen the geese swimming and when returning to parking lot we seen them walking on grass and of course my son believed he could walk up and pet them. We had beautiful weather, shade, seating and great landmarks. We will make this our go to place. Many people having picnics, fishing, playing in water, excercising or just relaxing. Tons of families there. No loudness at all. Found a shady parking space too. The first tree after parking lot was cool and looks like it should have signs on it. You'll see it in the pics. Thanks to everyone who left a review and posted pics. Hope this helps another newbie....
