Wow. I love this trail. It is so beautiful.

The trail is a 3.4 flat loop with a handful of gentle slopes located at Red Top Mountain State Park (parking fee required.) The wide, dirt path circles around a part of Lake Allatoona.

I walked the trail at a little past dawn on a weekday morning in mid July. The umbrella of trees and morning temperatures kept it from being too uncomfortably hot for this time of year. The trail started off empty but by the time I finished the loop, it was mildly scattered with walkers and joggers. Overall, I felt it was solitary walk with nature.

The beauty of the lush greenery and glimmering lake made my trek very pleasurable. Be sure to watch for your arrows and blue markings along the trail to stay on the path. There are several little deviations along the way. If you enjoy taking in the scenery or small leisure breaks, there are a couple benches to...

Amazing views of the water along the trail especially on the water view bridge. I started the trail a little before 7pm, by the time we reached the water view bridge, the sun was setting and it was a gorgeous view. A few benches starting towards the middle to end of the trail. Easy trail, well kept, marked well, ample parking, $5 fee can be paid in cash to leave in envelope or pay online and hang provided parking decal on rear view mirror.

Update: went here 6.16.25, there was poop all over the trail starting at the trailhead. At the very least, bag your dog’s poop. Adding dog waste stations along the trail would be very helpful! Until then, watch where you step!

It does get quite muddy in certain areas after a rain, but it’s easy to get...

Beautiful hike! Hike along Lake Allatoona on a wide part gravel, part dirt trail. Trail allows 6 everyone was courteous while passing. I had 3 children with me, a 5yr old and 10 year old twins. It took us about two and a half hours to hike the full trail, but we made several stops along the way for snacks, rest and water. There are lots of beautiful things in nature to see if you take the time to look around while you hide. There is a five dollar parking fee. A parking ticket can be purchased at the reservation center or via a donation box at the...
