I recently had the pleasure of visiting F.A. Sieberling Nature Realm with a diverse group of hikers, aged 6, 40, and 63, and I can confidently say that this place is a gem for nature lovers of all ages! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities and the well-maintained trails. The indoor nature center was a highlight of our visit — it was not only informative but also beautifully designed, providing a perfect introduction to the local flora and fauna. The staff inside were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, offering us valuable insights about the area and making our experience even more enjoyable. The hiking trails offered a great variety of difficulty levels, making it accessible for everyone in our group. The paths were well-marked and easy to navigate, allowing us to explore at our own pace. We found ourselves captivated by the scenic spots along the trails, where we had the chance to view an array of wildlife. It was a delight to see birds and other creatures in their natural habitat, which truly enhanced our outdoor adventure. Overall, F.A. Sieberling Nature Realm is a fantastic destination for families and nature enthusiasts alike. Whether you're young or young at heart, this beautiful nature preserve has something for everyone. I highly recommend a visit — we can't...
Read moreThis is a great place to explore. Herb garden with signs. Great stone paths, and stone work in general! Landscapes, the building, landings, all seem to compliment the scenery and Not take away from it, IMHO. Absolutely stunning, grounds, its like walking into a fairy tale land. Animals come up to you, birds chirp and fly all around you, pristine, untouched, unadulterated views. The park service does hold events and activities at the visitors center from time to time- check their programming. There are great pavilions, gazebos, waterscapes (with fish) for birdwatching, reading, sketching, have a picnic. I could see this as a great location for a stroll out to a predetermined spot for a proposal! Need a natural setting for a photo shoot? This is it.
Wildlife and flora abound, but are meticulous placed. We saw finches, a hawk, robins, chipmunks, rabbits, cardinals, chickadee, a gorgeous unidentified orange moth or smaller butterfly? All close to the paths we were walking. The colors were so vivid this fall, can't wait to go back and see all the buds bloom out for spring.
Honestly, this is worth the trip no matter where you're driving from in the area (I would go back every season even if I lived more than an hour away)- it's that beautiful and serene. Must-go if you...
Read moreTHIS is the place for your moment of Zen. This park (founded in 1964) is just outside and much older than the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. I would encourage to visit their website for children's related activities.
For me, the park offers a relaxing among within the trees and shrubs on -- for the most part -- paved walkways. Many of the trees and plants are labeled with shiny metal tags. So, you don't have to ask, "Wonder what that is?"
While there are plenty of benches to rest your backside upon along the pathways, you can see a lot in the building as well. My favorite is a lounge that looks to the outside looking over a bunch of bird-feeders. On a cold, windy, or rainy day, this is a fine place to relax to watch the local birds as well as those passing through. There are some other learning exhibits in addition to a small gift shop. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about all that you might see.
So, bad or beautiful weather, this place offers refuge from our crazy man-made world. If you can't relax and enjoy nature here ... you probably need to seek professional help!!! (but try going...
