We took the Chilkoot hike and float excursion from the port. Wonderful forest and the guide (Nick) was very helpful and entertaining! The way back is by rafting; nothing too risky but the string current and the obstructions on the river made it a challenge for the guide. The view while rafting is incredible; mountains and ice caps all around. Would highly recommend!

The trailhead to a wonderful five day challenging adventure ahead! The trail begins along the river for several miles, leading to the first campsite, Canyon City. Be prepared for cool weather, mosquitoes, and you will be amazed to find out that you carried too much weight and that you should have trained harder for this ascent!

Great trail! Wish we had time to explore all 33 miles of it. Looks like the trail gets a bit more difficult the further back you go but the first few miles are a nice warmup. Wear good hiking boots, definitely some narrow sections you will want good grip. Beautiful scenery, unbelievable rainforest with unique flora.

We did the Hike and Float tour through Chilkat Guides in Skagway. This is a short approximate 2- 3 mile hike on the Chilkoot Trail that was used by the Klondike gold-rush hopefuls. At the end of the hike we boarded rubber rafts and floated downstream back to our starting point. While short, it gave some insights of those historic Gold rush times. Our guide Dominic, aka Shaggy, has an excellent knowledge of the local flora and fauna. He was able to answer any questions with both insight and humour. The trail can be a bit of challenge at times but Dominic made sure that everyone was able to safely navigate the obstacles. I would not recommend this for those with mobility issues. Safety was always Dominic’s main concern. The return float, while only about 3 miles, was fun and interesting. Nothing to wild. Again, safety was Dominic’s main objective. This was taken as an excursion off of a cruise ship and, in no particular order, I will say it is in my top 3 excursions. This is my experience from hikes around South America twice and hikes and treks from Alaska to Mexico. Cruise ship excursions can be pretty easy but this stepped...
