If you are into camping and don’t need electric or sewer hookups this is an absolute gem! Plenty of serene, picturesque scenery. You can watch the ships going in and out of the harbor at Skagway from the campground. Walking out onto the tidal flats was peaceful and you can also see the tide come in and go out. Learning of the gold rush and the cemetery when the people that were buried during the avalanche and being able to walk the streets where the town was very cool.

Free! Donations highly recommended. River nearby. No potable water source so boil it first. Sites have picnic tables and fire rings. Really nice actually. Still can't believe it was free (I did donate). Managed by City of Skagway. You can take the Dyea NPS walking tour from the campground which was a nice way to end the day.

Wow, what a cool campground! Being right by the river, you can definitely see why so many bears are in the area. You can't beat the nightly price of FREE! During the summer months, even $10 a night is a steal of a deal here. Definitely recommend this campground. The day use is awesome too. I even saw a red fox on my way in!

This is for the Dyea Flats Municipal Campground (DFMC) further out the Dyea Road, but not yet appearing on Gmaps.

The DFMC is even more secluded, quiet, and only $10/night! You can see part of it while driving down the inlet. I saw a beautiful fox walking in the road while driving along the dirt road in and evidence of large mammals resting in the tall grass.

There are a couple of historical sites to view, Dyea Slide cemetery and Dyea history area, but it's flat out beautiful. And quiet! Only one other camper, a mile away, and the gracious host half mile away....
