The cabins are overpriced considering the amenities offered. Each cabin should ideally come with a welcome book detailing instructions for the Murphy bed, pellet stove, appliances, and sauna. The lack of hooks in the bathroom, bedroom, and near the front door is quite disappointing. Additionally, the bedroom does not provide sufficient storage, and having a trunk or luggage area would be advantageous. The shower curtain does not effectively cover the shower entrance, and there are very limited dry storage areas for hanging towels. It is inconvenient to find only one mirror in the bathroom for a cabin meant to accommodate four guests. A full size mirror upstairs would be beneficial.||Moreover, the absence of a microwave or toaster oven for quick meal prep is unfortunate; the current regular toaster is inadequate for meal needs. Outdoor grills, particularly for cooking fish, are also missing. The sauna is not user-friendly and requires properly chopped wood, which should be readily available for all cabins, along with enough supply for a two-hour duration (the lighters were out of lighter fluid). The wood piles should be stored in the sauna to keep it dry, replenished after each guest exits the sauna. Given the price of these cabins, it is unreasonable to expect guests to chop or provide their own wood. Each cabin should also include a water bucket to bring into the sauna, that way guests do not have to keep returning to their cabins for water.||The positioning of the Murphy bed is poorly thought out, allowing passersby to see those sleeping, which raises safety concerns, especially for children. The front door should feature tinted windows like those on the garage door windows. When it’s dark outside and lights are on inside the cabin, outsiders can see in, while guests cannot see out of the large windows. The large garage windows need coverings to block the summer evening sun, and a rolled-down white drapery could double as a projector screen.||Although the couch in the cabin was comfortable, a pull-out couch along with additional chairs would be more practical, as there isn’t enough seating for four guests to relax comfortably during longer stays. The upstairs bed should be oriented towards the windows to make the most of the Bay views, which feels like a missed opportunity. Despite the cabin's modern updates, the lack of USB/C ports is disappointing, as many guests do not carry or may forget power blocks.||The front door requires a canopy or awning and a motion light to differentiate between door colors at night, as the orange and red doors look similar in the dark. Furthermore, there is no designated area to store wet clothing or gear upon entering the cabin. Overall, the cabin's value does not justify the nightly rate, with inconsistent décor and a confusing aesthetic, leaving it unclear who the target...
Read moreMy spouse and I had the pleasure of staying at Salted Roots Cabins (Blue Door Cabin) from February 18-19, and we were truly impressed by the experience.
From the very first impression, the architectural design and ambiance stood out. The large glass façade created a stunning visual appeal, while the thoughtfully designed sauna just outside the entrance added a touch of exclusivity. Although the sauna door required some minor adjustments, it was a charming and well-crafted feature. The adjacent firepit and social area further enhanced the outdoor experience.
Stepping inside, the interior design, material quality, and layout were exceptionally well-executed. The space exuded modern elegance with a strong emphasis on comfort. The fully equipped, spacious kitchen was meticulously stocked with high-end appliances and utensils, ensuring a seamless culinary experience. The bedding was pristine, well-laundered, and luxuriously comfortable.
One of the most surprising and impressive details was the presence of a bidet in the restroom—a feature rarely found in U.S. accommodations but one that significantly elevates the level of convenience and hygiene.
The ocean view was another highlight, offering a serene and picturesque backdrop. Despite the rainy weather preventing us from utilizing the firepit, the management team was extremely accommodating, granting permission to use the balcony for barbecuing upon request. Their responsiveness and commitment to guest satisfaction were truly commendable.
With 15 years of experience in hospitality, tourism, and hotel management, my spouse and I have had the privilege of experiencing and evaluating numerous establishments worldwide. Given our industry background, we hold high standards when it comes to accommodation, and Salted Roots Cabins exceeded expectations in every aspect.
The heated bathroom floors, oversized bathtub, and spacious double shower provided an added level of comfort and luxury. The heating system was well-distributed, with two units in the living area and one in the bedroom, ensuring optimal warmth throughout the cabin.
Moreover, the kitchen was impeccably stocked, eliminating the need to bring any additional cooking essentials. The availability of ample towels and hygiene products further underscored the meticulous attention to detail in guest accommodations.
For anyone visiting Seward, I highly recommend staying at Salted Roots Cabins. Opting for this unique retreat over a conventional hotel room will undoubtedly enhance the value of your stay and transform it into an unforgettable experience.

Read moreA beautiful location in cozy cabin - but remember cozy also means tiny. There was no place to put clothes except for a few hooks. The coffee maker required grinding beans, heating water and then using a French press. A little more work than what we wanted to do in the am. Because the cabins on the water are in a group of three, overlooking a shared firepit area, you have to choose between the view or privacy. The owner/management was completely absent - not a single hello or check in. I found this surprising since the pre-visit communication by email was very good. The place is located on Lowell Point, which is stunning, but only accessible via a fairly rough road - which has seen rockslides in the recent past and is still being fixed to some degree. It is walking distance to Miller's Landing, convenient for a casual breakfast or dinner. They also offer fishing and kayaking. Overall, I do think the place is a tad over-rated for what they offer and for the amount of customer care they provide once you are in the unit booked. You have to decide whether the view, which is spectacular, is worth some of the trade offs. I had been in the same location in an AIRBNB more than a decade ago and the area was quiet and not very built up. This was a very different experience and did not...
