OK, I want to start off by saying we would totally stay here again! The check-in was easy, and the reception lady was super kind and helpful and gave us a tour of the property. She showed us where there were fresh baked goods from earlier in the day in the community kitchen room. Here they also had games as well as an outdoor area with blankets and heaters. In the morning, the breakfast selection was excellent (biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage and bacon, pancakes, cereal, bread, and bagels for toasting, fruit) and the ladies who cooked it were super friendly. The single best thing about this place is the view! There is a beautiful back deck with Adirondack chairs where you can sit and watch the water. We also walked the rocky beach. Within a few minutes of sitting outside, we saw otters, sea lions, eagles, hummingbirds, and several other birds. A minor issue with the location is how far from town it is and how rough the road is getting there… Very washed out and potholes. Not the end of the world but certainly worth mentioning especially if you find yourself in Seward with no car. My big complaint comes in with our actual room. We were in the upstairs barn. It has a gorgeous view through the trees to the water, but it’s pretty dated. (on the plus side, it did have a well stocked kitchen if you were planning to eat in at all as well as a grill). Our biggest complaint was that there was no functional smoke detector, and when I brought this to the attention of reception the next morning, they were aware, but didn’t fix it before our arrival. Also, only the first of three of us got a warm shower so it probably needs a larger hot water heater so spread out your showers. The shower dripped most of the night which was noisy in addition to the fact that the barn doors over the bedroom area don’t fully close so of course in June, it was daylight all night long, which was a little frustrating. Lastly, I was reading through the book with local suggestions. When I tried to compare some of the restaurants to Google or TripAdvisor reviews, I realized that their list was created in 2007. Perhaps it’s time to update those binders in the rooms. having said all that, overall, we loved this place and would definitely give it a...
Read moreOur guided tour company had booked most of the lodge for the group, and upon arrival we were welcomed on the back porch by the co-owner Kendall. My husband and I were assigned to a “deluxe bay view room with 2 queen beds in separate rooms, private bathroom with shower, mini-fridge, microwave, black-out blinds, and private outside entrance.” The suite had woodsy décor and was very cozy and comfortable. The front bedroom had a table and chairs by the bay window that looked out onto Resurrection Bay. The back bedroom was small and there was just enough room in one corner for a luggage rack. The bathroom was also small. It had a nice shower insert and the water pressure was good, it just took a few minutes to get hot.||The most distinguishing feature of this lodge was the wonderful back porch overlooking Resurrection Bay, with access from there down a short rock staircase to the beach. The covered part of the porch had nice tables and chairs and the open part had Adirondack chairs. It was a great place to sit and watch boats go by and look for sea otters and birds in the bay.||The kitchen staff provided a breakfast buffet in the kitchen every morning with coffee, eggs, bacon, hash browns, biscuits, gravy, yogurt, etc. The kitchen had tables and chairs if you wanted to be inside, or you could take your plate out to the back porch tables. On our first night the co-owner Michelle and staff cooked our group a fabulous dinner of salmon and vegetables, but I think this was something special that our tour company had arranged and not a regular amenity.||This lodge is about 2.5 miles away from downtown Seward and there is no shoulder on Lowell Point Road so it is not within easy walking distance of the restaurants and shops, but it is only a few...
Read moreHands down, the best place to stay in Seward.
We spent several nights here and had the chance to try both the yurt and the Deluxe Queen room—each had its own charm. The yurt was a peaceful, spacious escape with a cool open layout and lots of privacy. The Deluxe Queen, on the other hand, gave us front-row views of Resurrection Bay right from bed. Just steps from the main lodge and breakfast area, it was super convenient, though it does come with more foot traffic and thinner walls.
You will hear your neighbors—especially if they decide to watch TV at 3 a.m., like ours did. It was annoying, but thankfully it didn’t last long or ruin the overall stay.
The deck is absolutely a highlight. We spent plenty of time relaxing there, watching bald eagles, otters, seals, sea lions, hummingbirds, and more—all without ever leaving the property.
Breakfast each morning was fantastic—fresh, homemade, and served with genuine warmth by the two ladies in the kitchen who made us feel completely at home. Hosts Kendall and Michelle were friendly, welcoming, and made sure everything ran smoothly throughout our stay.
It’s only about a 10-minute drive to downtown Seward, but the lodge feels like its own little world—quiet, scenic, and unforgettable. We’d absolutely...
