My husband and I spent 4 nights at Angels Rest. The trip to the cabin the 1st night was very surprising. The single lane gravel road on Lowell Point had terrible ruts from rain and use. You could not travel over 5 miles per hour in several areas. At some point during the second day the city must have graded the road making it more manageable. The host gives good directions to find the cabins and you must follow them precisely or you will not be where you want to be. When we arrived we went to check in only to fine the host was on a hike. We went to our cabin and found a note with instructions for our stay. The instructions stated we should call the host to let them know we had arrived or if we needed any assistance with anything. We called to let them know we had arrived and at that point I was surprised that no attempt was made to meet us. During our stay we never once saw the host and really didn't know if they lived on the property. This seemed strange to us since any place we had ever stayed we would meet our host. There were several rules that they asked us to abide by, which we did. I also thought we were to have housekeeping after the 3 day, which did not materialize. I guess if we needed anything we were to contact the phone number on the information sheet. The views from our porch were wonderful and we were able to watch all sorts of sea life. We watched boats and people up and down the beach. It is a wonderful location if you discount the camp ground surroundings. I gave the experience a 4 because the view from the cabin was wonderful, but the location was not as nice as I had envisioned from the description. It would have been nice to have some sort of television with basic local stations instead of DVD's. All in all if you are looking for out of way with a view this...
Read moreBeware! Far from angels. For a place that prides itself on a “retreat” and the owner seconds as a “life coach / guide” they really have no heart. We unfortunately had to cancel our whole trip to Alaska due to a sudden death in the family. We plan on rescheduling this whole trip and we would have loved a voucher from their inn to come back and stay at another time, as they do for other customers. They seemed like great small business owners and we wanted to support them. But in reality, they were unresponsive, hard to get in touch with and after I tried all of their venues of communication, they finally emailed my husband and said they couldn’t respond to me because my husband made the booking (??). They basically told us to go pound sand because someone else had asked to cancel far in advance for a surgery (sorry we didn’t plan this family death!) and they couldn’t even give them a refund or voucher. We will make sure to stay away from this over priced, non-communicative and odd inn in the future. I fear for the people this woman gives life coaching to ! One...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived at Angel's Rest, we immediately knew we wanted to book a second night. We (M/F age 30) came right after we eloped in Anchorage, and spending the night in the Wing cabin was a truly incredible experience. It was like being in a movie, unbelievably beautiful setting, a fire pit outside, cozy bed, kitchenette, absolutely perfect. We saw puffins fishing, sea otters swimming, and even a rainbow that first night! The cabins are perfectly appointed with several amazing details, including binoculars, grills, coolers, etc. The second night we switched over to one of the suites and stayed across the road. We loved this one too, and it's grill and kitchen area are shared and super clean. We even put on some of the Alaska DVDs that came with the TV and loved them! The hosts and housekeeping staff were available at a moment's notice but also left us completely alone otherwise- a perfect arrangement. We absolutely loved our stay here and will definitely be back to celebrate our anniversaries in the...
