Albany Museum of Art — Attraction in Albany

If you are planning on renting out the auditorium available there, beware of the time that they give you for an event. Especially if you are planning a wedding or reception here. They only give you 8 hours per rental and everything must be done within that 8 hour period OR you pay $100 extra per additional hour. Facility is very nice but fairness.... not so much at first....Once I spoke with the Director she helped out best she could to accommodate. ALSO IF YOU ARE HAVING A WEDDING HERE THE DEPOSIT IS $450. MAKE SURE YOU TELL THEM YOU WANT TO PICK YOUR REFUND UP OR ELSE IT WILL TAKE SERVAL WEEKS TO RECIEVE IT IN THE MAIL. Overall OUTSTANDING staff. Ms.Yvonne Jones is very great. Albany is also home to the excellent Museum of Art. While only founded in the middle of the 1960s, its permanent collection of artworks is large enough to require six main galleries.

This collection includes a large proportion of American artists from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The impressionist Edward Henry Potthast, and pop artist Andy Warhol, both feature.

Elsewhere within the galleries there are paintings, drawing and works of sculpture from Europe, and one of the largest gatherings of African tribal art in the southeast United States.

Consisting of items from right around the African continent, displays are filled with a fine selection of masks, gold work...

The venue was nice & clean with good lighting. First time in the museum in Albany,Ga.need a better atmosphere & lighting in the ladies bathroom. For the most part I enjoyed myself.
