I bought some super nice Carhartt rain gear here, for about $73 its pretty good rain gear. Until I wore it twice and it ripped almost in half. This brand usually last me around 7 or 8 years so I took them back to the store. I had the tags and the receipt. The cashier was super nice and had me go get a new pair to exchange. Everything was going great Until the assistant manager came out to approve the return. She said it was my fault they ripped almost in half the second time I wore them and I could NOT exchange them or get my money back. She was very firm that I could not exchange them or get my money back. I was very shocked that a retailer like this would have such terrible customer service. Ive spent thousands of dollars here over the years and never had any issues. I left the store and went to Wilco, where I found the exact same product for a better price. During checkout at Wilco I asked about their return policy (explaining i had just got chewed out over at coastal for trying to return something) and they said since they are also a Carhartt retailer they could take my defective ones in as a exchange for me!! A couple days later the lady I dealt with at coastal called to tell me she called Carhartt and they agreed with her that their product failing was all my fault. I told her I was extremely disappointed in their customer service and I would not be shopping there in the future. She said "that's fine". I wouldn't buy a bucket of water from these people if my truck was on fire.

I don't normally write bad reveiws but I have been a customer service rep, manager and so on for well over 35 years and I have never been treated this rudely. This was my first time in this store and I can honestly say after today I will probably never go back. My husband and I were looking for a fireplace insert. We browsed for a good 10 minutes while the representative was helping another customer at their counter. Not once did she look up and say even so much as hi to us. After awhile of looking and not seeing exactly what we wanted, my husband sat at the counter to wait. He sat there for another 15 min again without her even so much as saying Hi, I'll be right with you folks, nothing. Heck she didn't even look at him. She then walked off with the customer she was helping to look at a fireplace she had 'out back'. Again not a glance at us to let us know she would be right back nothing. I went to another department to see if someone could at least answer our few questions we had and were told that she as the only rep that could us. Read moreWe used to go to Coastal Farm all of the time but since it’s been under new ownership, it just doesn’t seem the “heart of Albany” any longer. Most recent example was yesterday & today. We’ve been looking far a half-whiskey container to plant flowers in & we priced the ones you had outside, then went to 4 other stores to compare prices. Today we came back to Coastal Farm to see if they would price match one we found at another store but didn’t want to drive across town now a second day in a row. The gal indicated the new owners were reluctant to price match (poor business practice in a small town), but she agreed to leave her register & walk outside to the garden center. She took a pic of the one we wanted & looked at the other one we were looking at at another big box store (we prefer local stores such as yours). There was a $5 difference & the gal got permission to match the price. Well when she rang it up, it was actually less expensive than the one at the big box store. It was on sale and had been for THREE days but NO SIGNS - not even regular price signs. So we wasted 2 days plus your employees time, all of which could have simply been avoided by proper signage.
