Lums Garden Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in Albany

LOUNGE ONLY REVIEW. I was headed north on Superbowl Sunday when my truck died in Albany. No way was anyone available for a tow so I got a room for the night. The only question I asked front desk was "does that Chinese restaurant across the parking lot serve liquor?" Yes. Thank jeebus. I have a bad habit of ordering obscure cocktails. So when the bartender asked how to make a Sidecar it took me and the guy down the bar 2 smart phones and about 5 minutes to give confusing and distracted ingredients and proportions. The bartender kept up (I wish I had asked her name because she was awesome and obviously this review is more about her than anything.). Some things were lost in translation and instead of shaken and strained into a sugared martini glass, I got almost double the liquor poured into a sugared pint glass filled with ice, then Grand Marnier floated on the top. Heck yeah. This thing rocked. I have named it the Albany Winter Sidecar. Here's what I can remember of what she put in: Shake 2oz Hennessy, 1½oz Tuaca (my secret Sidecar addition), ½ smashed lemon, and ½ oz simple syrup (or to taste). The help was really nice. Play need to practice putting their plates together and presenting them in the manner and fashion that Chinese food should be. It tasted good at the presentation was different. They need to do a little housekeeping. And by the looks of the kitchen also. The outside needs to be repaired parking lot needs to be spruced up and that window going into the bar is a violation to their codes for. I didn't wanna be so critical but I grew up in that town And I knew every establishment that used to be there in the seventies and the eighties. It's just disheartening that when you're in the service industry you don't put your best foot forward for presentation of your business food. Now I can see why their places on the slow side. The reason why I'm so critical is the banquet Room was dirty salt and pepper shakers and dirty table dirty and it wasn't set up properly fortunately I know how to do banquets so I tallied it up before our guests arrived.
