We visited Castlerock recently, and we were blown away by the various armor, weapons and the history that came with everything.

The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We were lucky to be there during a slower moment, as one of the staff (John) was kind enough to lead us through much of the museum, giving us a backstory to the collection, and the timeline / history of the many pieces.

There was also great signage and facts near a lot of the pieces, so you can still have a incredible, self-led experience as well!

If you're passing through the area, this...

From the quality of the collection to the knowledgeability of the docents in full costume, we were impressed by this museum. We were a group of 12, ages 4 to 66, and everyone found something to interest them. The best part might have been the opportunity for the kids to try on some of the armor and hold the weaponry. Very interactive. The collection spans the millennia, from Viking, Roman, and Greek artifacts through the conquistadors and beyond. It's worth noting that a handful of medieval torture instruments are included, though not...

I've been able to visit this museum several times, for educational lectures, special events and just regular days. Each visit has been exceptional. Recently I brought a group of 20 from work on a Wednesday (a day they aren't usually open) and they were very accommodating. The volunteers are super kind and knowledgeable. They are working on installing a lift so people who use wheelchairs can see the lower level as well. The top level has lots to look at though too! Can't recommend it highly...

A unique collection of a lifelong passion. The owner of the museum has been collecting this stuff since he was a little kid, and it sure is worthy of a museum. The entrance fee is very very cheap, and they accept card! The staff knows everything, and the experience is great self guided, but you will get much more out of it if a staff member guides you. Once you are downstairs near the end of your tour sometimes they will let you try on the chain mail and other garments which is pretty cool. Fun place!
