Northern Lights Arena — Attraction in Alpena

This is by far one of the very best ice rinks I've ever been to. It was very clean, organized. The only thing that I would suggest is hand rails for going up and down the bleachers. Oh and bring something soft to sit on 😀. Even the men's bathroom was very clean. For obvious reasons I didn't go into the women's bathroom 😂 But even with everything I've said I would love to come back here for games. They obviously invest the money made back into the rink. I wish also that they would play some music for the kids when they are playing in the tournaments. They have the speakers and everything for it.... But overall excellence...

The rental skates are so old and worn out.... we all had sores on our feet and ankles after only 40 minutes of skating and we had on double layers of socks... $10 bucks is cheap, but I'd pay extra for rental skates if they were actually decent. The kids help bars are dangerous, as they have no caps on the ends, and its just an open metal bar and they get left all over the arena and half the time upside down with the metal bar just waiting for someone to fall and impale themselves on it. Probably won't be back any time soon...

We were at the Aplex for the Alpena Wildcats last home game of the hockey 2023-2024 season. The team did not disappoint, winning 7-2 over Petoskey. This is a very beautiful sports venue.
