I was scheduled for an outpatient procedure on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 9 AM to be performed by Dr. Brian S. Hanna, DO/General Surgery at My Michigan Health in Alpena (MMMCA), MI. Weeks prior to my procedure I read scores of reviews for this facility and, honestly, I started to get real nervous about going there after reading some of these scathing reviews. I seriously considered traveling to Henry Ford Hospital (HFH) in Detroit, MI to have the procedure done by Dr. Allen Yudovich, MD (an esteemed and highly-regarded Gastroenterology Specialist) who performed a similar procedure on me (merely to establish a baseline) approximately 18 years ago at HFH's satellite facility in West Bloomfield, MI but because of my current issue, realized that the road trip there and back would have been a crash-course in disaster.
Upon my arrival at MMMCA, I was checked in promptly and was soon escorted to my room by Nicole Dean who was upbeat and very personable. Nicole presented me with a hospital gown and booties which I changed into and was then given a menu with post-procedure snack selections to choose from. There was also a nurse on duty who walked past my open door and saw me with a white flannel blanket pulled up to my face, popped in and asked if I was cold. I was and she went out of her way to provide me with a pre-warmed additional flannel blanket. Now, seriously, you could not beat that type of care and consideration with a baseball bat if you tried all day and all night long. While still in the pre-procedure room, my vitals were taken and an IV was inserted by Becca Stevens in flawless fashion. I then met with Dr. David Bayley, MD/Anesthesiology Specialist who was very down to earth with an outstanding bed-side manner. Shortly thereafter, I was wheeled into the procedure room with Dr. Brian S. Hanna-DO/General Surgeon, Tamara Heaston-CRNA, Stephanie Thomas-Endo Tech and Iveton Smith-Surgical Tech already assembled. I was administered general anesthesia, procedure was completed, I regained consciousness and was back in my assigned room being served a blueberry muffin and coffee precisely as I had ordered by Nicole Dean with a radiant smile on her face.
Both physicians demonstrated a caring attitude, were attentive, conducted themselves with integrity and neither were pompous, arrogant or rude. The entire support staff that had contact with me during my visit were professional, friendly and helpful.
I have no doubt in my mind that with Dr. Brian Hanna's expertise and the exemplary care I received at MMMCA, a diagnosis will be determined and an appropriate course of treatment will be recommended.
Thank you all at MMMCA who attended to me for your care and kindness and may the Fates smile down on each of you and on those whom you love and hold dear!
I also want to thank Cori Williams-Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner at Thunder Bay Community Health Services in Rogers City, MI and her support staff for the care and diligence demonstrated during my initial consultation, submitting the samples for preliminary testing and her referral to Dr. Brian Hanna, DO for further evaluation. ...
Read moreThe OBGYN has truly disappointed me. I had my OBGYN visits with my first pregnancy back in 2013. I was scheduled to have an apt with a Doctor I hadn't seen yet. I had a rash for two weeks previous and I was hoping at this apt he would help me figure out this rash and get it under control. He was too involved with the Ipad in his hand to even look at me during our conversation let alone even look at my rash. He insisted that it was an allergic reaction. 4 weeks later I had another scheduled apt with my regular Doctor and She informed me after careful examination that I had SCABIES. I was able to get the right treatment due to FINALLY one kind Doctor that cared about her patients. I am now pregnant with my Second child, and I was sent to see a different Doctor after seeing a Nurse and narrowing out some scenarios that they thought was wrong with me. I was told by the Nurse that "There Was Something Wrong" .... I instantly panicked. I came back 2.5 hours later to see this Doctor who spent less then 5 min with me. She let me know that one of my pains was this certain thing, but when I go online and read all the medical descriptions I definitely did NOT have it. I explained my second pain where she let me know I needed to stop drinking "High Concentrated Drinks" where I responded that I only drink Water. No Response. So finally it was asked that maybe the Baby is in a position that could be hurting me, mind you I am almost half way through my pregnancy... and The Doctor responded that it's not possible the baby could hurt me because they are too little. Now I truly do not believe that... If I can feel them kicking and punching me, I am mosty certainly sure they could be placed wrong where it could be hurting me. This Doctor was far from concerned about the baby. Did not check a heartbeat, did not check to make sure they were okay. I have never left a Doctor's office more upset and furious in my entire life. I was treated like I was stupid. I know some people go to the doctor's office for every ache and pain, but I happen to be just the opposite. It took A LOT of pain to get me up there and with the very little information I was given I am left to read online and just deal with pain. I Will find another Doctor in that office to see until I am done. After I will travel to GAYLORD for any other medical/pregnancies in the future. I am TRULY disappointed and wish I wasn't treated like I mean nothing and my baby means nothing... That's not what Doctor's are for... So for any Mother's that are looking for a place to be taken care of during pregnancy, TRAVEL if you can. Do not go through what I had...

When a APD brought me in that is when I waited in the lobby for over an hour and a half. With an arithmic heart rate and a dangerously high blood pressure. Approximately an hour to the point the officer asked the receptionist "are we going to get some help" as he could see it my torso move up and down quickly with my heart rate. Approximately an hour and a half into the wait. Officer had to leave because it was taking so long. Thus leaving me there to seek treatment. As on a misdemeanor driving without a license charge. I was eventually seen. And left.
ACS Deputy brought me in nurse was there we were seeing right away. Upon checking my blood pressure it was dangerously high. I slightly lean forward to look at it and was worried. Nurse said it was high because I leaned forward and it mess with the equipment. I said I don't know about that. He then said sit back shut your mouth he also stated that he was a cop for 25 years. He then said your blood sugar is probably high checked it. It was he then went and got me a Coca-Cola and told me to drink it. About 20 minutes later they come in and check it again. My blood sugar was down. However my blood pressure was still pretty high. This was not the right treatment with that dangerously high of a blood pressure should have immediately been placed on IV medication and taken to a room. I was treated like absolute garbage. I was being called polite cool not causing any issues. I was also given a chemical test and tested negative for illicit drugs.
Walk-IN I came in by myself to be treated. After two prior incidents. The same nurse was there. I requested a different nurse. They told me no and then proceeded to call the police on me. The cops ended up leaving leaving me to seek treatment. No more than one minute after I sat a triage room the same nurse came in to change the garbage mumbling cuss words under his breath the whole time instigating me so me feeling threatened and honestly and fear for my life not knowing what's going on I left this is absolutely criminal what happened to me I cannot believe you of them puts their name on this hospital I've tried to reach out to administrators and they call me back two weeks later and don't leave a message I pray to God somebody from corporate sees this because I can prove it all and now I have arrhythmia issues...
