If you compare the iconic Cadillac Ranch to the newer Slug Ranch its a slam dunk. I adore Cadillac Ranch, but prefer the Slug Ranch in terms of convenience, and aesthetic. Convenience paved walking paths, parking lot with additional close side street parking. It cuts the walking time from ten minutes to one to reach the ranch. Aesthetic The tall stretch limos provide much shade and depth. The Volkswagen bugs themselves are artwork unto themselves just as the original cadillacs were and remain today. Added bonus the rubber tires are still intact and spin. The bright colors are warm and fun. Our kids enjoyed spinning the tires as much as seeing the graffiti art. Stopped here on our Route 66 trip when we saw it pop up nearby; wasn't even on our radar until we got into town. I personally liked it better than Cadillac ranch; a lot more effort into keeping it maintained and preventing the layers of spray paint from building up too much. As a Bug enthusiast, a bit sad to see a couple were 50s and 60s bugs buried (one even had Semaphores, so it was originally from Europe, possibly France), but still really cool to see it.
