Buckles Lounge — Restaurant in Amarillo

Buckles Lounge is under new ownership. I was never there before. You would never know how cool this place is by looking at the outside. There are a wide variety of people that come here from locals to bikers to truckers from way out of town. The pool tables are standard coin-op bar tables but the sticks are in good condition and they have hand chalk. There is a dance floor and they are talking about having live music soon. You can have food Ubered in. They have Karaoke on Friday nights. Bartenders are friendly and the owner is down to earth and approachable. The atmosphere is great: nice and dark, with all sorts of stuff on the walls to check out. It is nicely air conditioned with a great sound system. When you step into this bar you are in a vastly different world than the one you left in the parking lot. It feels like the new crew are going to be doing some interesting things...

As a trucker, I have been coming through here for decades, and if I didn't have to leave out early in the morning, would stop in here for a beer or two. Usually, there would be the bartenders and waitresses, a married local woman or two looking for a one-nighter, a dozen or more lonely drivers trying to compete for the attention of the women, and a local alcoholic or two, trying to make friends with people that buy drinks. The typical bar next to a truck stop. To me, it was mainly a place to have a cold beer and chat with other truckers. It had been years since I'd been through here, but last night, I found myself on a layover here, so I slipped in for a cold one. It wasn't anything at all like it used to be. I had a really good time! Definitely changed my mind...

Would have given the bar a 5, bar staff friendly enough, but it's a truckers drinking den, one trucker in particular looks like something out of ZZ Top with a baseball hat on, likes to pick on strangers and acuse them of cutting him up on the highway, One i don't drive,, he's just a pain in the rear end wanting to cause trouble, came in with a mate , we are from England, read some reviews earlier which was good so gave it a go, wrong, give this bar a swerve if I was you, Take care when passing...
